“Great location, absolutely spotless, and lovely rooms.”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2014

This is a beautiful property located in the heart of St Andrews. It's a 5 minute walk to the centre of town, and 10 minute walk to the beach. We found 6 different ways to walk to these locations in the space of one week. Margaret was quick to respond at all times, and was most helpful. The house is so clean it's as if no one has lived in it. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have everything you could ask for. We have visited St Andrews many times over the past 20 years, and this house was by a long way the cleanest, best equipped, and most comfortable we have stayed in. If we could afford to, we would book it for the whole year! We has 3 teenagers with us for part of the week, and no internet in the house. They all survived, and even commented that they had quite enjoyed not having it. I have rated this property as excellent, but could really do with another category. 6 stars - 'perfect'.

“Excellent”

Accommodation superb, with first class facilities. 5 minutes walk to town centre and 15 minutes to west sands and old course golf links. The folder Margaret has ready has all the current info you will need regarding household equipment and the local amenities etc... Will definitely be returning

“Great base for golfers.”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2012

Southfield was a great base for a golfing vacation in St. Andrews. The house is even larger than it appears in the photos. It would comfortably fit 4 golfers. It has all of the amenities that one would need other than Internet access. St. Andrews is a relatively compact town. It's very easy to get around to everything without getting into the car. St. Andrews is a destination that every golfer should experience. Getting on to the Old Course is a bit tricky (times are assigned by lottery), but even if that doesn't work out there are a multitude of other wonderful courses to play in the area. Margaret (the owner of Southfield) was a pleasure to work with. The reservation and handover of keys and payments went very smoothly.

“Great base for golfing vacation”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2012

This house is in great condition and has all the amenities that one would be looking for in a vacation property. It is more spacious than appears on the pictures on the web site - easily enough room for 4 golfers. The owner, Margaret Holligan, was a pleasure to deal with. This house is an easy 10 minute walk to the central area of St. Andrews - there's no need for a car once you arrive. Every golfer must visit St. Andrew's at least once. Although it may be difficult to secure a tee time on the Old Course, there is an abundance of other wonderful courses to play in the area. If you can't play the Old Course, make sure you visit on a Sunday, when the course is closed for play but is open to the public - it's like a giant public park (tourists, kids and dogs everywhere).

“Perfect house in the perfect location in the perfect town.”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2012

My husband and son and I stayed here for three nights. It is exactly as pictured - very clean and updated - a beautiful home. It is in very easy walking distance to the center of town down a beautiful path. We could not think of one other thing that could be added to this wonderful house. It was a great family get away. Margaret was very helpful from beginning to end. Reservations were easy and she was very welcoming. We hope to be back here again. You are missing a great opportunity if you dont go to St Andrews and stay in this wonderful house.

“Ideal base for a stay in St Andrews”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2011

A beautifully furnished and equipped cottage - every comfort we could have wished for - and more. I felt quite guilty that we weren't cooking more to make use of it! It is an easy walk to the town centre and the seaside - no need to use the car, which can stay in its dedicated parking space. All dealings with the owner were friendly and efficient. A very good find.
