Description from owner

Description

Keepers is an apartment in a recently built barn using traditional materials on an oak frame at the 20 acre small holding of Greenfield Farmhouse, Huntington. From balconies there are wonderful views over to the Black mountains and across the top of our 10 acre wood. It is a peaceful haven and greatly appreciated by bird watchers.

Huntington is a village of scattered farms in the heart of the Marches with a small historic church, St. Thomas a Becket and an old characterful pub. There is a choice of public footpaths, with Offas Dyke only a mile away.

A favourite visit is to the market town of Hay on Wye, well known for its annual book festival and second hand book shops and many other market towns along the border of England and Wales. A wonderful spring garden is Hergest Croft Garden with so many interesting plants and trees close by in Kington.

Location description from owner

The England region

Huntington is situated very close to the border of Wales and so enjoys access to the wonderful Welsh hills and also the market towns along the Marches. Hay on Wye is a short drive away and is a great favourite , full of character, second hand book shops and good pubs. There are other market towns of interest, Ludlow know for its food and market, Leominster for its antique shops as well as the castles of Chepstow and Croft.

There is the Mappa Mundi in Hereford Cathedral and the wonderful spring gardens of Hergest Croft.

There are many footpaths, cycling tracks and horse riding over the hills .A warm welcome at Kington Golf Club, the highest 18 hole course in the UK and canoeing down the peaceful Wye looking out for the kingfishers.

Kington

Huntington is a small village of scattered farms close to the border between Wales and England, marked by Offas Dyke which is a footpath travelling the length of the boundary. Unusually there are two churches, the United Reform Church and St Thomas a Becket which lies hidden in the fields. Nearby The Swan, a very old pub, is thought to have been built on the site of an inn dating back to the 13th century. There are remains of Huntington Castle, possibly built in William the Conqueror's time and remains of a motte and bailey. The whole area is a wonderful place to enjoy peace, quiet and beautiful scenery as well as having plenty for the active and those who enjoy history and geology.
