“Charming and comfortable cottage” I had a lovely weekend staying in this cottage with two university friends. It was a great setting for catching up over elaborate meals cooked together in the modern kitchen, sitting around the cosy fireplace, and going for long walks in the beautiful hills nearby.
Stayed for only a weekend but found the cottage perfect for our needs. It’s really well equipped, especially the kitchen, the beds are comfortable, bathroom has been refurbished recently and is very modern, comfortable sofa and even a fire place. We loved the owl decorations and lovely old features of the house. Thankfully the weather was good, so didn’t use fireplace but enjoyed a BBQ on patio seating with sun umbrellas and also appreciated the picnic bench at the top of the garden. Shops, pubs etc in Kington are a short walk away. Great location for walking on Hergest Ridge, Offa’s Dyke. We hope to be back later in the year. …
The Barn at Titley
Refresh and restore balance into your life by taking time out to enjoy "The Barn at Titley".
My stay at "The Barn" at Titley was a truly delightful experience. A huge thank you to the owners who have gone to great trouble to create a lovely, tastefully furnished and very comfortable home, with every amenity. It was luxurious to be in and welcoming to return to at the end of a day out.
From booking to review, the service has been prompt and excellent. The property was easy to access, the owners were on the end of a telephone, if needed and to facilitate an easy stay, the property is fully instructed, which I found very useful.
The Barn is only two hours from South Warwickshire and is well situated in Herefordshire for The Brecon Beacons, only a half an hour away, Church Stretton in Shropshire which is less than an hour's drive and Hereford, Ludlow and Hay- on- Wye all within 45 minutes. The nearby town of Kington offered a full range of essential services, including very nice bread at Sally's Pantry, and a wonderful Spa facility at the local hotel. In Kington I met walkers from different countries all keen to walk the Offah's Dyke path.
My four days, also included visits to Hereford Cathedral to see The Mappa Mundi, Hay- on- Wye to visit Richard Booth's Second Hand and Antiquarian Bookshop and Ludlow to enjoy the shops of the old medieval town. En route to Ludlow I found that little bit of serendipity, in The Gallery at Prestigne, which I think is worth a visit if you are as interested in hand made rugs as I am and the cafe/restaurant does good coffee and/or lunch. The scenic route then through the hills and valleys of the northern part of Herefordshire, which took me to Ludlow was in nice contrast to my home area which is comparatively flat . Altogether then, my four day break at The Barn at Titley was only a beginning in getting to know the Welsh borderlands and I cannot remember another self catering property which I have stayed in so enjoyably as The Barn, because it was so clean, comfortable and well appointed. I would definitely go back. L Jones. …
Historic home in a central location
The Medlar is in the centre of Kington, a small town in Herefordshire and very well located for lots of walks in the beautiful countryside and visits to National Trust houses, small towns locally, Hereford Cathedral, etc. The house is friendly and welcoming, the courtyard garden is not private but does catch a lot of sun and is very secure for children and pets. The house is well furnished and suitable for a couple or a family of four. …
