“Fabulous home from home” We arrived tired after a frustrating journey in the pouring rain but felt immediately happy and at home in this lovely house. Great idea to welcome us with edible treats. It was very clean and nicely presented with lovely homely touches - tasteful art and nice furniture. The beds were a good quality with cotton sateen sheets. Our party of 8 had plenty of space in the sitting/ dining area and in their spacious bedrooms, the extra nursery room with cot would be good idea too if you needed that too. The garage easily held our 5 bikes and kayak which was helpful. Our dog came too though he wasn't allowed upstairs with a helpful stair gate there were dog treats too for him on arrival. Only slight point would be fridge small for the 8 (3 adults and 5 teens) and slight shortage of big saucepans etc, but nice to have electric whisk and plenty of mugs! There is a rain shower in main bathroom which was great.
The location was good - close to Monmouth with nice local shops, Waitrose and Lidl. Also easy trip up to Ross on Wye because of proximity to A40. So much to do round the area. I wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks.
“Beautiful and secluded retreat with friendly pheasants!” I stayed for three nights at The Roost and could not fault it. The accommodation was beautiful, very clean and had everything you would want for a weekend or a even a week away. The internet access was very welcome after having very little signal on my mobile. Carol and Barry did everything to make me feel welcome and were very helpful and accommodating. The friendly pheasants outside were a lovely touch too! I would definitely stay here again to explore more of the area as there seems to be no shortage of things to see and do. Thank you for a wonderful and much needed break.
“Excellent week at the medlar!!” We enjoyed fantastic week away at the medlar after a very wet week camping prior to arrival. Was very glad of the warmth and comfort!! Very well equipped cottage. Washing machine, iron, ironing board and washing line in the lovely courtyard were essential and well used. We were able to park the car with all camping equipment in designated space behind the cottage and other car that was in use every day in car park down the road which was so handy. Very impressed and will definitely recommend to others.
“We loved it!” Had a lovely time! the bed was comfortable, it was very clean and the setting was just lovely. The couple who run it were helpful and friendly and Peter the duck visited every morning! We use the fire pit and had a lovely evening sitting out under the trees. We are defiantly coming back again next year! It's was totally as good as we hoped! Thank you for a lovely stay and see you next year! Would defiantly recommend it!
“A great place to stay for those that like the quiet life.” We rented the upper apartment in May 2012 and were impressed enough to return in 2013 to rent the lower apartment. Both apartments have been recently refurbished and offer quality accommodation with everything you need for a quiet vacation in the Herefordshire countryside. Both apartments have wireless Internet access, convenient for looking up all the places to visit. The grounds also has a small lake with a resident wild fowl population so take your binoculars. Our only reservation is that if you are over five foot ten inches I would go for the upper apartment as the lower apartment has low ceilings given that it is a former cider press. Parts of the main house are reputed to be 500 years old so has lots of of history for anyone interested in old buildings. One last thing, the owners, Tim and Abi who live in the big red house attached ( not sure where 'White House' originated) are the most friendly and helpful hosts we have experienced in almost 30 years of staying in holiday cottages. We will be going back in 2014 but this time we will be taking our paint-boxes. What more can we say.

The Rock Unique Stay Bed & Breakfast
'Unique' as it says in the write up
We had always wanted a short break in this area, and though we left it late to book, we were more than satisfied with this place
Stunning location with great views and only 5 min drive from attractions, notably Ross, Symonds Yat and Goodrich Castle
The other bonus was that you could walk to the pub on a lovely path through the woods!
But the real positive was the room itself, bed and breakfast but with your own private space so you could relax and not feel obliged to be out and about all day and evening like you do at some places
The hosts are lovely and Pam provides a great breakfast and much useful local information
I would highly recommend this place. …
Retreat in the woods
We had a super time in the 'Shepherds retreat'. Its small but everything is there, shower, WC, cooker and fridge. We had a few meals eating outside watching the wildlife and birds at the feeder. It is very close to Ledbury and easy driving to Worcester, Hereford and Gloucester.(But check the traffic there are lots of roadworks and diversions around) It was too dry for the fire pit and the duck pond had dried out too but there is plenty to see and lots of outside space to sit at. We would recommend it for a few days away. …
