The Scotland region

Crail is probably the most attractive of the historic fishing villages in the 'East Neuk' Of Fife. The picturesque ancient harbour has been captured on canvas by many artists. Enjoy a feast on fresh lobster and crab which can be purchased daily from the harbour. Crail

Tucked into a corner of the east coast of Scotland between St Andrews and Edinburgh, the East Neuk of Fife is one of Scotland's most beautiful regions. It has a character all its own, attracting artists by the thousands to its unique combination of history, sea, farmland and beaches, its picturesque fishing villages with their Dutch-style houses and its world famous golf courses. There is so much to do here for the whole family, from kayaking to horseriding, and yet there is great peace here too. In the summer, flowers line the hedgerows and the fields are rich with crops while fishing boats bob in the sea. It's a perfect place to relax, to eat well, and to recharge the batteries. Eight coastal villages comprise the East Neuk - each with its own special character.

The area is famous for its lush golf courses, with a wide choice in the immediate locality and within 30 minutes' drive.

Head to St Andrews, home of Scotland's oldest university, and stroll along the two-mile stretch of pristine beach, West Sands, where Chariots of Fire was filmed.

Several attractive country and coastal walks can be accessed directly from the house.

For water-sports enthusiasts or anyone who wants to try something new, there is a choice of water sports in the nearby town of Elie, which also has a beautiful harbour and beach.

Tentsmuir Forest and beach on the outskirts of St Andrews ( within a half hour drive) is great for exploring; if you want to venture further afield, the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park offers some lovely opportunities for longer walks in the Scottish hills.

“The coastal path is wonderful!”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2014

De cottage was spacious and well equipt and in a lovely village. But, we were not amused that there were neighbours on the topflat who always can look in your garden. It dit not feel free.

Owner's reply: Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear that the garden was not to your liking. The property is advertised as a ground floor flat so, unfortunately, it is difficult to avoid the fact that there are neighbours on the floor above. We hope that this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of your stay at Sea Neuk. Best wishes, Fife Cottages

“A satisfactory and pleasant stay”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2014

Sea Neuk was very comfortable and in an ideal location. It would have been nice if the garden had been secure - we have a spaniel and she would have been through the broken trellis fence in no time so she had to go out on a lead each time. A couple of complaints in the kitchen; a new teapot is desperately needed - the one there drips more tea than goes into the cup and it is rather discoloured and brown. Also the grill pain was in a disgusting state when we came to use it - after a good scrub it was useable but still very greasy. It had obviously not been checked when the house was cleaned Apart from the above, the accommodation as very comfortable.

“Sea Neuk Crail a delightful cosy holiday retreat”

Reviewed 31 Dec 2013

We found Sea Neuk in Crail to be a delightful cosy holiday home overlooking the sea, directly above the harbour and in an ideal position to explore the surrounding country, play golf or just relax. The property would suit families and friends of all ages, is newly decorated and well equipped throughout. The sun lounge opens onto a small patio/garden. In summer this would be ideal for a barbeque or just to sit and enjoy the view. Sea Neuk is a great little find for a holiday break throughout the year and we certainly plan to return again soon.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay at the property. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
