“Lovely cottage, fantastic location for exploring Cheddar and the Mendips.”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2018

Brilliant location with Cheddar Gorge practically on its doorstep. Wonderful views of the Gorge from the balcony. Comfortable, clean cottage for four adults and two beagles. Nice welcome pack and greeting from owners who were very accessible for help if needed. Lovely garden with mesh, low level fencing all around but, in our opinion, not secure enough for adventurous or larger dogs who could jump over in places, hence the four stars instead of five as we weren't confident enough to allow our dogs to run free in the garden. However, the balcony was secure so the dogs did have a little outdoor space to roam around outside. Overall, we had a fab holiday.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your review. We are delighted to hear that you had a fab holiday here in Cheddar and that you enjoyed the lovely views of the Gorge from the cottage (and we note your comments re the perimeter mesh). Kind regards Andy and Helen

“Holiday review”

We had a very warm welcome when we stayed here and bread jam milk and fruit was waiting for us. Everywhere was spotless and the views from the Cottage are absolutely amazing. The Riverside Pub which is a 2 minute walk away does nice food as does the Riverside Chinese restaurant a 3 minute walk away! This is the perfect location for exploring the caves we did the caving experience which was amazing and would very much recommend it. The Cottage and Helen and Andy the owners were faultless, it had everything we needed. Even though the owner's were next door we didn't feel looked over and had our own private gate to get in and out from the property.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for such a lovely review - we are delighted that you had a nice stay here in Cheddar and that you enjoyed your caving experience - very brave! Do hope to see you again at some point in the future. Kind regards Andy and Helen

“Perfect Christmas Stay”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2018

Gorgeous cottage with stunning views. Perfect place to spend christmas. Everything was thought of from a christmas tree, a welcome food pack and even gifts under the tree and a bottle of champers!. Cottage was very well equipped and very clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and would book again for ourselves. Thank you for making our Christmas so perfect!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for such a lovely review! We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay over the Christmas period and do hope to welcome you again at some point in the future. Kind regards Andy and Helen

“Perfect cottage for couples”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2017

Just wanted to say what a warm welcome we got when arriving, with all the homely comforts like bread and milk provided. Cottage is beautifully presented and is in an ideal location to walk up to cheddar gorge. Was lovely and peaceful and we both enjoyed brunch on the balcony one day. Deffinately worth a visit! Thank you so much for letting us stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review! We are really pleased that you had a nice stay with us and do hope to see you again at some point in the future! Warm regards Andy and Helen

“Delightful cottage with amazing views”

Reviewed 15 May 2017

We were welcomed with a pack of essentials to tide us over until we could shop. The cottage was immaculate and very comfortable with the use of the owner's beautiful garden and a parking space in their driveway. There are a multitude of eateries within walking distance and supermarkets and there are superb walks from the door. Highly recommend.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your kind words - we are so glad that you (and your lovely little dog) had a nice break here in Cheddar. Hope to see you again at some point in the future. Kind regards Andy and Helen

“Perfect very pet-friendly secluded central location with awesome grounds, right down to the bread and milk on arrival!”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2017

We actually can't find a single fault with this place! It was wonderfully local yet very secluded and secure, amazing view of the gorge and no possibility whatsoever for our 2 terrier dogs to escape. Has it's own waterfall and carp pond with grounds to just sit back and relax in depending on your fancy at the time (lawn, patios, veranders...). The shower was intensely invigorating, the beds comfy, living room cosy, good eclectic choice of DVDs for the evenings and even bread and milk provided on arrival. All made for a very relaxing weekend! Thank you very much! Would defo consider using again if we make a return visit.

Owner's reply: What lovely comments - thank you so much for your kind words! There is nothing nicer than hearing that our guests (including the 4-legged ones!) have enjoyed their holiday here and we would be delighted if you decided to stay with us again at some point in the future. Kind regards Andy and Helen

“Amazing Hosts, Ideal Location and Lovely Cottage!”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2016

I visited Cheddar for the weekend for my Dad's 63rd birthday with my partner, and my Dad's 2 dogs. Helen is a perfect host, she makes sure you feel at home for the duration of your trip. She is happy to recommend walks, restaurants, pubs and days out. I was amazed at the personal touches which really did make the difference, when we arrived we were already supplied with tea / coffee / milk / sugar / biscuits and even a birthday cake for my Dad! The location is ideal, just facing the ticket / tourist information point for Cheddar Gorge. There are numerous tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and a tesco and sainsbury's nearby. So there is always something to keep you busy if you have any energy left after Gorge Walks!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for such positive feedback, we are delighted that your Dad had a nice birthday weekend and it was a pleasure having you (and your lovely, friendly dogs) to stay! Hope to see you again at some point in the future. Kind regards Helen and Andy

“A Absolute Gem”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2016

On arriving at our destination we were greeted by the owners of Highcroft Cottage Andrew and his wife a lovely couple and after a bit of a chat together we made our way to our place of stay Highcroft cottage and the minute we stepped in we were not disappointed. Highcroft has everything you could wish for, wonderful views, very comfy bed and pillows I may add and so light, airy and so clean. Andrew and his wife had thought of everything right down to a lovely welcoming pack for us and one including dog bowls and treats for Rhia and Butch our two dogs. We had the wonderful views of the Gorge from every window and a veranda where you could sit and sip a glass of wine to put it simply home from home. Cheddar is just a minutes stroll where you have lots of shops, restaurants, plenty of tea and coffee shops I thoroughly recommend eating out in The Bath Arms which is in cheddar five to seven minute walk the food is scrumptious and very reasonable. Further afield you have Burnham-on -Sea which is a stones throw and twenty minutes further on is Weston-Super-Mare and a visit to Wells is a must with the Bishops Palace and the Cathedral. The gorge itself is breathtaking so worth a view. I would highly recommend the beautiful cottage and Chedder.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for such lovely comments - we are delighted that you had a nice break here in Cheddar (despite the changeable weather!) and we hope that your very friendly (and handsome!) dogs enjoyed the walking. Do hope that you will get the chance to visit us again at some point in the future. Kind regards Andy and Helen
