Rowden Mill Station is set in the rolling countryside of Herefordshire, around half and hour from Ludlow, Worcester and the M5.
Externally the site includes authentic detail from Great Western Railway days. The restoration recreates the look of the station during the 1950s and features original platform lights, signboards and posters of the period.
Further along from the station on Platform 1, the Parcel Office has an unspoilt view of the rolling hills opposite the station. While relaxing on the sofa, the beautiful scenery is a constant companion- with the changing features of nature and wildlife throughout the year. It is a perfect place for bird-watching or spotting the sun and moon rises on the horizon.
With two sliding doors, one glazed and a solid wood one, direct access from the platform as well as privacy are both achieved harmoniously and in-keeping with the character of the building.
The Parcel Office is a self-contained studio. This large room also has a double bed, a table with two chairs, a wardrobe and a sofa. With an en-suite bathroom, kitchen facilities, fast Wi-fi and a fabulous home-cinema. It also benefits from the insertion of blackout blinds on the skylights.
The incredibly efficient wood-burning stove in the Parcel Office ensures warmth in the winter months, and provides a place by the fire for those evenings when required at other times of the year.
A supply of wood and kindling over winter is included.
If unsure on how to run a wood-burner, do not worry, we will brief you on the operation of the stove during our meeting and greeting on arrival at the station. On cold days, we will already have started the fire ahead of your arrival.
Outside there is a bistro set and guests can have access to large gas BBQ, We do not however allow open camp fires or smoking/vaping in or around the station.
The Parcel Office guests share the on-site car park (for 1 car) with our station guests on the same platform. EV charging facilties are available in nearby Bromyard.
As a disused railway no trains pass by, however the site does include 300+ metres of track. We provide an initial guest safety briefing, however as a renovated railway station, Rowden Mill Station does have platform edges and other obvious trip hazards which guests should be aware of. Parents must take full responsibility for the supervision of their children during their stay.
We like to be good neighbours so ask our guests to be considerate in respect to late night noise. We do not allow amplified music outside.
As a self-catering venue, we expect guests to leave the property reasonably clean and tidy with recycling, rubbish and ashes cleared away appropriately. Guests are requested to clean the BBQ after use.
We keep our charges to a minimum, but would request an extra charge if the property is left in an unreasonable condition and we needed to bring in additional help to make the station ready again between guests.
Unfortunately, Rowden Mill Station can not accommodate pets.
Smoking/vaping is not allowed at Rowden Mill Station.
There is a contact list in case of emergencies.
The station is equipped with smoke and CO2 alarms, fire extinguishers and a first aid kit.
