We enjoyed our stay in this well appointed cottage where we found everything we needed. It was located in the charming village of Mawnan Smith with easy access to a shop, post office, public house, café, Spanish restaurant and several other shops. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. The area had many attractions, lovely coves and beautiful gardens. We could easily have spent another week here and will probably return another time. …
Ideally situated with short walk to shops and pub yet in a quiet position. Very comfortable and well equipped, we had all we needed for a relaxing stay. Lovely new bathroom and everywhere spotlessly clean. Outlook from living room onto pretty garden. Parking was generous and well off road. Kathy was a friendly host and we hope to visit again. …
Very nice stay.Pool a bit chilly for a heated pool other facilities spot on.Accomadation clean and comfortable. …
Great location, Excellent facilities in cottage, communal areas need improving
Spent a very enjoyable last two weeks of August in Lamorna cottage. Cottage itself was a good size, clean and had excellent facilities: Washer/Dryer and dish washer in kitchen were much appreciated. Showers were easy to control and plenty strong enough.
Driveway and car park was a disappointing sight on arrival which didn’t befit the 4* grading of the accommodation. Rough gravelled surface with potholes and unlit at night. Closer inspection revealed some lighting on PIR sensors but these didn't work.
At the side of the car park was an open garage area containing chemicals and equipment which were a hazard to any children who might try to investigate. I don’t know if the garage was owned by Tresooth but either way it should have been secured.
The swimming pool was not heated as advertised. Though I shivered and got used to it, our 3 year old got in and straight out again. It was no warmer than the sea at Maenporth beach!
The Jacuzzi, though warm, wasn’t too clean and the sauna just didn’t get up to temperature.
The games room had a pool table costing £1 and table football costing 50p. The air hockey didn’t work properly and so the only usable free game was table tennis. The description on Cottages4you website didn’t mention these charges. Despite all this, I often visited the games room to make use of the free wireless internet.
On arrival, the children’s play area contained only a trampoline and a small storage storing various bats and bits and pieces. The swing and slide shown in the advert was not there. A swing and slide did appear 2 days before we went home but was unsafe to use as it was not secured to the ground.
As a base for exploring South-West Cornwall, the location is excellent. We were blessed with glorious weather during our stay and spent time at the nearby Swanpool and Maenporth beaches. Maenporth was sandier and better for swimming. Further afield, but not huge journeys, Kennack Sands and Praa Sands are excellent and well worth a day trip.
In and around Falmouth there are many great places to visit, far more than can be done in a fortnight! I can recommend Pendennis Castle (we saw a jousting event), a ferry trip to St Mawes, Trelissick Gardens and a Fal River cruise. …
St Keverne Cottage
Beautiful location and excellent facilities
Have been to Cornwall several times and have stayed at Tressooth Barns twice now and would go back again next time. It is a good base to travel around Cornwall but I would recommend that if you are going to north Cornwall go for the day and either plan to eat out or take a picnic as it can take an hour to get as far up as Tintagle. Falmouth is beautiful and has lots of nice places to eat and is only 5 minutes drive from the barns and Mawnan smith has a couple of good places to eat. We have 2 very small children and 2 dogs, it was ideal for us to relax and have a wonderful time, Kids were in the pool every day when we got back from the beach. …
What a wonderful peaceful place. We spent 3 days here on our honeymoon and loved it! Brilliant for kids and adults. The Firepit was awesome. Highly recommended and would love to come back with the kids. …
