Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.

Town: Crantock is a small Cornish village set back from the coast close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the north to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast. There are a number of golf courses in the area, National Trust properties, traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Newquay itself is a visitor's paradise with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and nearby Dairyland and Eden Project.

Response from the manager
Thank you for sharing your feedback Robert. I’m sorry that your holiday at Cormorant didn’t meet your expectations and that the building work at the neighbouring property caused you disruption. As mentioned we do make it clear on our website that re-development works are currently taking place at the nearby Goose Rock Hotel. However, the owners of Cormorant have been assured that any impact to guests will be kept to an absolute minimum. At Sykes, one of our core values is ensuring that we communicate honestly with our customers, which is why we wanted to make sure guests have the relevant details before going ahead with a booking. I do note that you didn’t make any enquiries about the building work prior to your stay with us. If this had been of particular concern to you then I’m sure we could have contacted the property owners with any questions up front. Having discussed your feedback with the owner they did advise us that the only impact on the view would have been from the position of the hot tub. With this in mind they did offer to refund you the £150 charge for this facility, which was declined. Once again, I’m sorry that the planned building work spoiled the enjoyment of your holiday. I do hope this won’t deter you from booking with us in the future. Kind Regards, Kathy at Sykes Cottages
