The Heart of England / Peak District / Cheshire region
Chester is within easy driving distance of the North Wales countryside and coast. The city also makes a convenient base for exploring the Wirral Peninsular, and visiting Liverpool and Manchester.
Chester area
Chester is a beautiful old English city with a unique walled centre. It is situated in the North West of England on a loop in the river Dee.
The city is rich in history from it's days as an ancient Roman port to it's medieval buildings which give the city centre it's uniquely English character. These buildings now house a wealth of shops, cafes and restaurants, making Chester a great place for a weekend city break.
Chester is famous for it's race course, one of the oldest in England, which still holds regular race meetings throughout the season.
Chester is also home to the UK's number one zoo, set in award winning gardens and a short bus ride from the city centre.
