“Atmospheric property, wonderful country, newly done to a high standard” I understand I was the first client at this property, which has just been converted into a compact one-bedroom self-contained cottage. Everything has been done to a very high standard, and the large bed is particularly comfortable. The staircase to the bedroom, all hand made and welded, was particularly attractive, and the owner, on whose working farm the cottage stands, was very helpful. You are high up, within Dartmoor National Park, and almost on the edge of the moor itself. The owner also keeps horses, is Master of the local hunt, and will happily tell you where and when the Hunt meets if you are interested. The owner is also putting in some additional heating, and it will then be toasty warm as well as attractively converted.

The Shippon, Widecombe in the Moor, Dartmoor
Fantastic!

We really loved staying here. The cottage is beautiful and rustic, with everything you could need for a comfortable, cosy, hassle free stay. Kitchen is well equipped, lovely bathroom, gorgeous comfy enormous bed, woodburner in the living room. The location is also very nice, Dartmoor in spring is so green, there is a clear spring nearby. The cottage is walking distance to a lovely pub - The Rugglestone Inn.see more
The Oak Barn - Luxury Barn conversion in the heart of Dartmoor
A stunning barn conversion, exceedingly well appointed.

A very rural and quiet location, set close to the interesting village of Widdicombe in the Moor, including two good pubs and The Cafe on the Green which we didn't seek out until our last morning; it was excellent and not to be missed (don't be put off by the uninspiring appearance of the building). The Oak Barn was exceptional - spotlessly clean, comfy beds, very warm, and all the facilities including the showers, were of a very high standard. The arrival gifts of wine, milk, home cooked sponge and eggs were much appreciated. I would liked to have chatted more to Richard about his wood craftsmanship and particularly his workshop and oak projects, but that of course was not part of the booking and I fully appreciate he was very busy and I was respectful of his need for privacy. I felt a little uncomfortable and sad to leave without saying goodbye.see more

Dashel Cottage
A Dartmoor Delight

Our 2nd stay in the area and Brimble Cottage provided a spacious, warm, quiet and comfortable base for our weekend break. Lovely hosts too. Fabulous location if you like to get away from it all but so much to explore from the door. We visited with our dogs and took them to Bellever Forest, plus a fantastic circular walk from Haytor Rocks to Hounds Tor and pretty Widecombe which we viewed from a walk to Bone Hill Rocks - stunning scenery wherever you look.see more
Yonder Shippon
Beautiful corner of Dartmoor - we didn't want to go home !

We absolutely loved our recent trip to Yonder Shippon. Stephen and Fiona are super hosts and we were made to feel extremely welcome throughout our stay. From a log burner lit ready for our arrival (which wasn't needed by the end of our week as we'd picked a superb week weather wise!), to thick fluffy towels, a large comfy bed with beautiful bedlinen, there was nothing else we needed in order to recharge our batteries for a few days. The farm is set in a beautiful location and we loved the visits from the dogs Archie and Bella who are great little characters. We don't know Dartmoor very well but we're determined to be back to explore further at a later date (hopefully not too far away). It's a really special place. We explored Hound Tor, cycled the Granite Way (gentler on the muscles than the nearby lanes unless you have legs of steel!!), walked to Widecombe, enjoyed great beer at the Rugglestone Inn, hibernated by the log burner for the afternoon when the weather was a complete write off and finally couldn't resist one last walk on the morning we left along the West Webburn river on the Two Moors Way which is magical.see more
