“Yonder Shippon... perfection!” Although our stay was short it was delightful! We received a warm welcome from Stephen and the puppies on the first day before settling in. The perfect size for two and with everything you need, I really can't fault it.

“A stunning barn conversion, exceedingly well appointed.” A very rural and quiet location, set close to the interesting village of Widdicombe in the Moor, including two good pubs and The Cafe on the Green which we didn't seek out until our last morning

The Shippon, Widecombe in the Moor, Dartmoor
Fantastic!

We really loved staying here. The cottage is beautiful and rustic, with everything you could need for a comfortable, cosy, hassle free stay. Kitchen is well equipped, lovely bathroom, gorgeous comfy enormous bed, woodburner in the living room. The location is also very nice, Dartmoor in spring is so green, there is a clear spring nearby. The cottage is walking distance to a lovely pub - The Rugglestone Inn.see more
Dashel Cottage
A truly relaxing and comfortable little haven

We have visited this cottage several times now. It is warm and comfortable and we once again, felt wonderfully looked after. It is a true haven of peace and quiet - you really don't need the car and if you are planning for long walks on the moor, you only have to walk out of the front door to find them. An excellent base also for travelling further afield and plenty of good places to eat locally. From experience, this is the perfect base in good weather or bad (it is Dartmoor, after all!) and our little dog always goes home happy and exhausted. Thank you for looking after us so well.see more
Widecombe Cottage
Enjoy the wonders of nature at this blissful cottage.

If you are seeking a place to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature, Widecombe Cottage is the place for you. Beck’s wonderful homemade cake, wine eggs and milk welcomed us as we arrived. The cottage has everything you could wish for with (most important) a very comfortable bed. There isn’t a mobile signal (hooray!) in the village but there is excellent Wi- Fi reception in the cottage. You boil the kettle on a gas ring, and the deep roll top baths shower arrangement, although very ornate, could be a challenge for the older generation. However, this is a small price to pay for a slice of heaven… and Beck’s cake. Sitting on the rear private patio with our first cup of coffee we were enchanted by an aerial ballet of swallow's swifts and house martins swooping down low over the lawn. In the field beyond, Dartmoor ponies and cattle, each with playful offspring grazed contentedly. In the evening, undulating narrow fields with well maintained hedges melted into the distant horizon. The clip-clop of an occasional horse and rider from a nearby stable and the crowing of a (thank goodness distant) cockerel completed the picture. Bliss!! The Rugglestone Inn, a short stroll down the narrow country lane is a must. With a large choice of real ales, lagers and a very tempting varied menu, it is a memorable compliment to this delightful cottage.see more
Yonder Shippon
Perfect seclusion and tranquility

Off the beaten track down beautiful lanes with old trees, moss covered rocks and even a place that looks like 'a fairy glen', is Yonder Shippon. Secluded, with beautiful views and complete silence other than the occasional clip clop of the owners going for a ride on their beautiful horses. An old cowshed transformed into a delightful little cottage suitable for 1 or 2 people. The conversion is very well executed with style and comfort in mind and a well equipped kitchenette. (A small freezer compartment would have been useful but not essential, and if you, like me, can't find the frying pan and roasting tins, they're in the drawer under the oven!). Sainsbury's do deliver to this location and I saw Tesco vehicles in the area so no doubt they deliver too, making it so much easier to get supplies for your stay arriving fresh. The owners are friendly and very helpful and tend to leave you to enjoy their stunning farm - lovely walks across their fields with friendly horses and delightful dogs. Add to that an enormous, sadly deceased, oak tree reputed to be well over 1000 years old - a humbling experience standing near its enormous girth and wondering what stories of the past it could tell you. Located in a beautiful scenic area with plenty of drives to other parts of Dartmoor and within easy driving distance of surrounding towns. Perfect location and I would highly recommend you book at least a week in this piece of heaven - as someone else said, you won't want to leave.see more
Brimble Cottage
Moorland retreat

Great location, lovely cottage, friendly welcome. The farm animals are an added bonus, as is the easy walking access to both the open moor and a wooded river valley. … see more
The Oak Barn
Gorgeous, warm cottage, very comfortable

The cottage is beautiful, with a lot of oak (the clue is in the name!) on display, The bedrooms and en-suites are luxurious, with clever lighting and all conveniences. Upstairs is open plan and airy with a smart well-equipped kitchen, and a pair of huge sofas for lounging. The cottage has underfloor heating which is very effective, as well as a woodburner for extra cosiness. The hall makes a great area for boots and coats, and it is warm enough to dry soggy boots overnight! The owners are friendly and approachable, and the location is great for walking in the moor.see more
