Excellent Cottage

This is a excellent cottage lovely place to stay very big lots of room. I Went with my family 5 Adults 2 Kids (7) we all had a great time had a lovely barbecue on the back of the cottage. Barbecue is in the property there is also bike you can use. Nikki left use some lovely Flowers + Lemon cake and grapes on arrival was so lovely made you feel so welcome. Your need to take ferry across to salen (£8.20 one way) or you can drive around it is about 30-40 mins get your shopping before you arrive. I can not say this enough it is a lovely place to stay. Nikki is also very fast at replying to any thing I asked. I only have one down side the WIFI is not good (1mb) speed if more than 1 person using it not good I think speed not good because were the cottage is. I know you go there not to stay in but in the evening or on a raining day it be nice so you can go on Netfix or just streaming on your tablet or laptop but there is SKY TV. Just got back from a weeks stay at Woodside , fabulous location to explore all the points of interest locally , amazing views from the cottage and ideal for eating out nearby .Nature in abundance all over the area and lots of scenic walks close by .. House on the Shore - Sea Breeze - Camas Inas - Acharacle
Wow - Just simply amazing

What a great location, really does give you everything that you need - a near-perfect picture of Scotland from the front door/window. Mountain’s, (snow-topped when we went too) check. Loch, check. Wildlife on full view, check! There are really no downsides to this property at all if you are seeking an idyllic remote gateway with access to plenty of wildlife, walks and a hop skip and a jump to the island of Mull, then this is ideal. The house itself is brilliantly kitted out for everything that you will need, a wonderful welcome cake and a bottle of wine and a wee dram of whisky as a welcome. Plenty of storage for your ‘stuff’, comfortable beds and the lounge comes with all the creature comforts of home, but with one massive benefit, the lounge offers beautiful views of Loch Sunart and all the Bird and Sealife that comes with that, ignore the TV in the corner and watch the ‘live TV’ out of the window. We saw Oyster Catchers, Herons, Seals and Porpoises all from the lounge - superb! Out the back during the day, every kind of garden bird comes in for a visit, but at night-time, it comes alive with badgers and pine martens coming in to feast on eggs, peanut butter, and jam… they aren’t shy either! Walks close by are along the shoreline or up the single track road (have some care if walking that, not much space for you and the cars) head left from the driveway along the road for about 10 minutes or so, over the burn (which runs under the road) and then on the right as the road bends to the right you will see an opening up on to heath (there is a ruined croft up there) - this is a great place to spot red deer and afford a decent walk close to the house. Head right and you can dive into the many areas along the roadside to explore the shoreline/beaches. Highly recommend the walk(s) around Gelnborrodale - drive and then park and then walk, there is a superb café at the Ardnamurchan Natural History Visitor Centre to get your energy back after that! In terms of shops - the local shop at Salen Jetty has most things that you will need but there is a larger selection etc. a bit further on at Acharacle Shop & Post office. An ideal base to explore the peninsular, Singing Sands at Kentra, was a fantastic (longish, but easy) walk to the most wonderful beach and Sanna Beach, equally as beautiful but in comparison to the Singing Sands a distant second… Further afield to the Island of Mull, spotted a Golden Eagle… I say spotted, it could have been anything through my cheap binoculars, but the bird watchers who were also there reliably informed me it was a Golden Eagle, also spotted a White-Tailed Eagle… In fact, the only wildlife we were missing from our checklist was Otters… maybe next time!
