Ardnamurchan Holiday Home, close to Acharacle and Salen
Woodside self catering

Just got back from a weeks stay at Woodside , fabulous location to explore all the points of interest locally , amazing views from the cottage and ideal for eating out nearby .Nature in abundance all over the area and lots of scenic walks close by .. The cottage is very clean , comfortable and cosy , the decking area is fantastic for that evening glass of wine , everything you need is considered and available on hand inside . would not hesitate to returnsee more
Ardnamurchan holiday cottage
Fantastic cottage, but needs a decent bed

The cottage was probably the best decorated and equipped cottage we have ever stopped in with a fantastic kitchen and bathroom. It was let down by having to sleep on the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever had to do, even when we moved it on to the floor. Good location, but stock up with your weekly food in Fort William before hand as supplies are limited. Internet would be nice for finding out information/weather, but not essential as there are a number of hot spots near by. A fab visitors centre over the road which does the best coffee and hot chocolate is worth a visit. We would definitely come again if the bed was changed. Regards Phil & Sue Edwardssee more

House on the Shore - Sea Breeze - Camas Inas - Acharacle
Wow - Just simply amazing

What a great location, really does give you everything that you need - a near-perfect picture of Scotland from the front door/window. Mountain’s, (snow-topped when we went too) check. Loch, check. Wildlife on full view, check! There are really no downsides to this property at all if you are seeking an idyllic remote gateway with access to plenty of wildlife, walks and a hop skip and a jump to the island of Mull, then this is ideal. The house itself is brilliantly kitted out for everything that you will need, a wonderful welcome cake and a bottle of wine and a wee dram of whisky as a welcome. Plenty of storage for your ‘stuff’, comfortable beds and the lounge comes with all the creature comforts of home, but with one massive benefit, the lounge offers beautiful views of Loch Sunart and all the Bird and Sealife that comes with that, ignore the TV in the corner and watch the ‘live TV’ out of the window. We saw Oyster Catchers, Herons, Seals and Porpoises all from the lounge - superb! Out the back during the day, every kind of garden bird comes in for a visit, but at night-time, it comes alive with badgers and pine martens coming in to feast on eggs, peanut butter, and jam… they aren’t shy either! Walks close by are along the shoreline or up the single track road (have some care if walking that, not much space for you and the cars) head left from the driveway along the road for about 10 minutes or so, over the burn (which runs under the road) and then on the right as the road bends to the right you will see an opening up on to heath (there is a ruined croft up there) - this is a great place to spot red deer and afford a decent walk close to the house. Head right and you can dive into the many areas along the roadside to explore the shoreline/beaches. Highly recommend the walk(s) around Gelnborrodale - drive and then park and then walk, there is a superb café at the Ardnamurchan Natural History Visitor Centre to get your energy back after that! In terms of shops - the local shop at Salen Jetty has most things that you will need but there is a larger selection etc. a bit further on at Acharacle Shop & Post office. An ideal base to explore the peninsular, Singing Sands at Kentra, was a fantastic (longish, but easy) walk to the most wonderful beach and Sanna Beach, equally as beautiful but in comparison to the Singing Sands a distant second… Further afield to the Island of Mull, spotted a Golden Eagle… I say spotted, it could have been anything through my cheap binoculars, but the bird watchers who were also there reliably informed me it was a Golden Eagle, also spotted a White-Tailed Eagle… In fact, the only wildlife we were missing from our checklist was Otters… maybe next time! Thank you for such a great week!see more
Salen Cottage
Nice Location

We had a great week at Salen Cottage and did leave wishing that we could stay longer. Salen is a perfect location for exploring the west coast peninsulas as you are right in the middle of everything. The cottage itself is beautiful and in great condition. Access was problem free and it's location in the village is perfect. A doddle to find and you'll make yourself at home very easily. There are only a couple of suggestions I would have for minor improvements to the cottage, and it's for this that I've docked one star. Sorry if that seems petty but in my book everything has to be perfect for 5 stars. It doesn't mean we didn't love the place. Firstly the bathroom. The light is pretty dim, the water pressure is disappointingly weak (especially the hot water) and the bath has no handles. The last point was not a problem for us but as it's quite deep and narrow it could be difficult for someone with mobility issues to get in and out. The hot water was plentiful once you get the fire or heating on, but it could do with a more powerful hot water pump. That would make a big difference in the morning or coming home after a rainy walk. My next point is so minor it seems petty, but it was constantly annoying. The footstool in the living room moves very easily. So easily, on the lino floor, that every time you try to brace your feet against it away it goes on a little adventure to the middle of the room. It just needs some castor cups with rubber bottoms to stop this happening - £8.95 on amazon just now. The kitchen was great. Spacious, modern, clean, everything we needed. There was a bit of cutlery shortage though. Only 3 knives and forks. Should be fine for 2 people but there's a bit of a scramble to see who gets cutlery if the rest should happen to be in the dishwasher. Or you can join forces and have one person with a knife and the other with a fork, but this needs some coordination. Easier to have soup as spoons were plentiful. All pretty minor issues. It's a lovely place and we'd love to go back.see more
