Description from owner

Description

A superbly located beachfront cottage ideal for couples and families. Still retaining the original Coastguard's 'look out' the cottage also has the benefit of parking for 2 cars.

The cottage has a safe enclosed courtyard with picnic table shaded by a gnarled old grape vine, in front of the property the old coastguard's parade ground has been converted into tennis courts, bookable for use at the local Windy Stores cafe. A few rackets and tennis balls are available at the cottage for guests' use as is our kayak!

Downstairs the cottage has stripped floorboards throughout. There is a bright and airy kitchen/diner and a comfortable sitting room, with an open fire overlooking the tennis courts and bay. The wet room with loo is on this ground floor level. On the first floor the main bedroom has a four-poster 4'6" double bed, positioned to overlook the fabulous Whitstable Bay. Off this bedroom is the original Coastguard's "look out" (binoculars supplied!) White floorboards. The second smaller bedroom has a 5' zip & link bed (can be two 2'6" twin beds). Carpeted Floor. The family bathroom is on this first floor and has a roll top bath and separate shower cubicle. The third, loft-style bedroom is accessed from the second bedroom up a small enclosed staircase and has a 2'6" bed, we suggest more suitable for a child or teenager as it has a sloping ceiling, lovely views over the bay.

Famed for its oysters, Whitstable boasts many restuarants and the North Kent coast offers plenty to explore all year round, with the cathedral city of Canterbury only 8 miles away. The historic harbour is still active and incorperates a renowned daily fish market. Harbour Street has many art galleries and artisan shops.

The cottage works well for families, 2 couples sharing or just one couple who like to have the views, parking and a little more space.

Please make sure you are happy with the bedroom configuration.

One well behaved, medium sized dog welcome with couple(s), unfortunately we don't accept dogs with family bookings, there is an additional charge of £5 per night, £25 for a week.

High chair, available at no extra cost.

Bed linen included but we ask our guests to supply their own towels.

“Perfect 'home from home' place to stay”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2016

I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. It's perfectly situated, comes with 2 parking spaces (worth it's weight in gold in Whitstable) and is absolutely gorgeous. The cottage has all the amenities of home and the added extra touches left for us on arrival were very gratefully received. It has real character and has some great touches to it. It's clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated, perfectly situated (only 30 seconds from the beach and no more than a 5 min stroll into town). It's easy to contact the owner if you have any problems (not that we had any). Very sad to leave after a week there and will definitely book again.

“Great cottage great parking.”

Lovely cottage in a great position for beach & town well equipped and the 2 parking spaces were a bonus ,definitely recommend .
