“Fabulous family home”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2013

Bankhead is a fabulous house, tastefully decorated and well equiped for a large family gathering like we had this christmas. Large rooms and plenty of seats, fairly well equiped kitchen (if you need one because there are some great places to eat out in Stirling) and great views. My Mother is in a wheel chair and my sister walks with sticks so the downstairs shower room was a real plus. Also plenty of room for them to get around. Then my brother was over with his family and his girls were delighted with the stables being so close so they could see the horses. If there was a down side the house was cold to start with and took a couple of days to heat up to a comfortable temperature with the log stove but we were there in the cold winter weather and Val had not known the heating hadn't been coming on in the mornings while she was warming up the house for us to arrive. She admits herself the towels when we stayed were ropey compared to the quality of the rest of the house but at least they were large. Val was very helpful when we needed anything or information. the house is in a great location to explore the trossachs and close enough to Stirling that a cheap taxi ride can get in very quickly. A great place and great house.
