During 1928, the nameboards at the New Romney station were changed to read "Littlestone-on-Sea" in an effort to emphasise the railway's seaside location. The railway was built by Captain J. E. P. Howey and Count Louis Zborowski to serve the local population and tourist trade, it stretches for nearly 14 miles from Hythe through Dymchurch, St Marys Bay, its base at New Romney, Romney Sands and then to the fishermens cottages and lighthouses at Dungeness. “Beautiful”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

The apartment was great. Nice decoration, warm and cosy. The kitchen is fully equipped, everything you need is available. We could sit in a flowery garden or watch television on a giant screen.

“Ideal accommodation in excellent location!”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2013

Thirlmere was such a fantastic house. With its spacious living and dining areas and plethora of bedrooms, it catered for our every need! We were a party of 8 adults and 5 children and rented both the main house and the apartment together - and it suited us to perfection. It is situated in a quiet area, directly across the road from the shingle beach and sea, with beautiful views of the coastline - and perfectly located for day trips to local areas. It is necessary to drive everywhere, but that suited us OK.
