The England region

East Sussex is a beautiful county with so much to explore. It borders on Kent with Royal Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury. Brighton with its fabulous Royal Pavilion, The Lanes and designer shops is 30 miles to the west, all fantastic places for days out. It is also possible to do day trips to France from Dover (about an hour and a half drive to Dover).

Closer to home are Battle (famous for the battle of Hastings), the ancient towns of Rye, Hastings, Winchelsea, Alfriston and Pevensey. Tenterden is under an hours drive and well worth a visit. If you are a walker then Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters hills is also under an hours drive away. This is just a snippet about our county, come and find out for yourselves - there's plenty more.

Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill is a beautiful seaside town situated between Eastbourne and Hastings. This area is also known as 1066 country.

We have a pebble beach with sand at low tide and 2 mile promenade. The newly regenerated west seafront and De La Warr Pavilion, which houses a theatre and hosts many art exhibitions, is a must.

The Pavilion restaurant and cafe overlooks the sea with amazing views of Beachy Head.

The east seafront has a good pub and a great kiosk serving snacks and ice cream.

A small walk along the promenade you will come across the Sovereign Light Cafe which is featured in Keane's new song and video. If you watch Keane's new video you will be able to see Bexhill seafront along the promenade.

Egerton Park (10 minutes walk) has family play and fitness areas, tennis courts and indoor as well as outdoor Lawn bowls.

Eating out in Bexhill - everyone is catered for with Italian, Turkish, Nepalese, Belgium, Chinese, Thai, English and Indian restaurants.

Fish and chips and Pizza take-away or supermarkets for self catering are all within a few minutes walk.

Ravenside Retail Park is about a mile walk along the seafront or a couple of miles by road. There is a 24 hour Tesco, Next, Boots, Currys, PC world, McDonalds and KFC, also a large swimming pool.

Historical Hastings is about a 4 mile walk or bike ride along the seafront or 20 minute bus ride.

Eastbourne is approximately 12 miles west and has a large Marina with shops and resturants. easily accessible by bus/train.

Bexhill can be whatever you want for a holiday, quiet and relaxing, sporty (great run or walk on the seafront promenade), sea fishing, surfing and many places of interest within easy distance.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2016

A very comfortable and well positioned property close to the sea, the pavilion, shops and restaurants, also within easy walking distance of the railway station. The friendly owners met us at the property to show us around, they are easily contactable if any problems, but there were none at all. The apartment is warm and cosy, we stayed in November, and very well equipped with some lovely extra touches especially the generous welcome pack. We hope to be back.

Thank you so much for the lovely review and hope to see you both again sometime. Kind regards Diane and Simon

“Home from home”

Paddlers is a very relaxing home from home with everything that you need. Diane and Simon are very friendly and provide a very thoughtful welcome pack. Paddlers is in an excellent location - literally round the corner from the beach and minutes from the town centre and railway station.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review, it was so nice to see you all again. Best wishes Diane and Simon

“Very nice property close to the sea and everything else !”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2014

Diane & Simon are the nicest people and own this very nice & unusual property in Bexhill. We chose it for long weekend to Chill out, get some sea air and check out a few of the places and restaurants nearby. The owners leave a "Welcome Pack" to help you your way, tea, breakfast stuff etc. Walking along the sea front there are many small Interesting cafe/shops and the De La Ware pavillion (Good for great sandwiches and a glass of what you fancy) The Town has the usual shops but also has indoor markets and fresh bakeries. You are close to other BIG Towns if you want to travel. There are a few restaurants locally, we enjoyed Bistro 45 a Belgian/Retro place which is small but great for Belgian Beer, Steaming pots of mussels and other fish dishes. Good to book it fills quickly !.

Thank you very much for your great review, it was very nice to meet you both. I'm pleased you liked the bistro, its one of my favourite restaurants in bexhill. We hope to see you both again sometime. Kind regards Diane and Simon

“There is absolutely nothing more you could want for in this little gem of a cottage”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

This is probably the cleanest holiday place we have ever stayed in !! Simon met us and showed us everything we needed to know and was so friendly and helpful and fell over himself backwoods to make sure we had everything we needed and was also very helpful with all the local knowledge of where to visit locally. He also showed us where to park ( a 100m from the property on the same side ) which was free day & night which we were grateful for as we thought we had to pay everyday to park on the seafront . The property has been so well thought out they have thought of absolutely everything There is nothing more you could want for. Trust me !! All the furniture was of a very high standard and the bed was soooooooo compfy it was hard to get up in the morning .It was beautifully decorated to the highest standard and very warm and cosy !!! It is also very well situated with the sea literally 1 minute around the corner (you don't even have to cross the road ! ) and all the shops you could possibly need just over the road yet again just a 2 min walk. The train station is only a 10 min walk away. I really can not recommend this holiday cottage enough .We really did have a lovely time. Thank you so much Simon

Thank you so much for your lovely review, and soooooo pleased you found Paddlers comfortable. Hope to see you again sometime.

“Highly recommended!!”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2012

We stayed for a few days with our 40 year old son and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment is extremely comfortable and very well equiped and we couldn't believe the welcome pack that was left for us - absolutely fantastic and extremely thoughtful of the hosts Simon and Diane. Beach, bars, restaurants and shope are all within a few minutes walking distance so you do not need to use the car unless you wish to go further afield. We will be moving to Bexhill this week and will recommend this place to any of our family or friends who want to come and visit.

Many thanks for your great review and we are especially pleased that you are happy to recommend Paddlers. Diane & Simon

“Perfect Place - Lovely Atmosphere”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2012

We really enjoyed our stay at Paddlers. We got a wonderfully warm welcome on the day we arrived and a great selection of goodies to give us some nice breakfast the following morning. It was quite generous, but showed us that the owner had a great understanding of how much effort it saves guests when they don't have to go out after arriving to buy bread, milk, butter, eggs etc. Good on you. The flat was very comfortable with a very snuggly sofa, powerful shower, lots of TV channels and very central location for shopping and the beaches, which are all within 100m. The best parking is the De La Warr Pavillion, at 7 pounds a day, which was pretty good, although there is lots of free parking if you are prepared to walk a little further. Having said that we didnt see a single traffic warden all the time we were there. The flat does NOT have internet, which was a bit of a let down, but the connectivity to BT Open Zone was very good, and offered value for money at 15 pounds a week. I think the owner is planning to get internet installed though. The beds were really comfortable, the linen lovely and clean, although the fitted sheets were a bit on the small side and had a tendency to slip off during the night at the corners which was very annoying. For local restaurants, I'd avoid the Italian Way over the road - quite shocking. There is a little Italian Bistro in Devonshire Road 2 mins walk which was awesome, and Bexhil has 2 amazing Indian Restaurants (The Shiplu in London Road - 5 minutes in a cab, and Basmati's which was a bit more upmarket, 5 mins walk) - I'd also highly recommend the Nepalese restaurant in Sackville Road, which also has some great places to go shopping for cheap antiques) Overall: Great stay, very homely and comfortable modern apartment, reasonably priced. Highly recommended. We traveled all the way from Australia and were not disappointed by a single thing.

Thank you for a great review & for pointing out the problem with the sheets. The sheets are superking size but the mattresses are very deep for comfort, making the fitted sheets very tight. We have now rectified that and should now be ok. A free wi-fi internet connection is being installed this November.

“Well-equipped, clean & comfortable”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2012

Paddlers is in a very handy location, just metres away from the seafront and opposite the main shopping stret. The apartment is decorated tastefully and all is clean and in good condition. The beds are particularly comfortable. Well-equipped kitchen. The little extras were much appreciated ("welcome pack" of basic food, soap..)

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we are so pleased you were happy with everything. Diane & Simon
