Offering multiple places to sample freshly caught Devon seafood, there is the award-winning Cricket Inn and Britiania * The Beach seafood shack. From the nearby large freshwater lake, known as Widdecombe Ley, a variety of bird and wildlife can be seen. Close by is the small village of Hallsands, which has a dog-friendly, unspoilt beach, and linking both villages is the South West Coast Path. From this trail, walkers will be spoilt with views of the Start Point Lighthouse in the distance. Nearby, uncover the beauty of Blue Flag-awarded Blackpool Sands and Torcross, a historic site where the Normandy landings were practiced; explore the nature reserve at Slapton Ley, and stroll along the 1.2 mile long shingle beach at Slapton Sands.
