“couldn't be better” We have a wonderful week at The Barn at Cotmore Farm. Beautifully renovated 2-level, 2 bd-rm cottage with private garden terrace. It is just a short drive to the spectacular Devon coast -- with choices of sandy or stony beaches, and as much of the 630-odd miles of the South West Coast track as you wish to walk. About 1.5 hours drive to experience the bleakness of Dartmoor - so a good location for any time of the year. Our hosts were interesting, helpful and discrete - from booking to farewell, they were totally professional.

Island House- Cottage near the Sea with 4 Bedrooms
Better than expected

Island House is absolutely gorgeous. The photos don’t do it justice. Pretty much everything you need is there. Built in 1901 with big deep window seats to snooze on in the sunshine. Stokenham is a lovely little village away from the hustle and bustle of places like Salcombe but easily accessible to them. Totnes sea front is a 40 minute walk away, mostly off road. There you’ll find the Start Bay Inn - the best fish & chips Mom had ever had in her 86 year life! The beach there is stones / shingle and not great to walk on if you have any mobility issues, but the water is crystal clear. There are sand beaches nearby in Salcombe and Blackpool Sands. The two local pubs looked good but sadly, due to staff shortages, weren’t doing food during our stay. We noticed that a lot of places in the area (shops, restaurants, pubs) had signs for job vacancies. The Church in Stokenham has an interesting history and is amazing in its construction. Sadly the village green doesn’t allow dogs but the house has a secure garden to use. Will definitely return at some point … see more

3 Gabberwell Cottages KINGSTON SOUTH DEVON
Family Xmas Break

I booked the cottage to accommodate a Xmas get together with my son and family who live in Cornwall. Three of the deciding factors were that it is dog friendly (we have two dogs between us), centrally heated and has two lounge areas. It was a bonus to have a pub within walking distance although we didn’t actually visit but it looked cosy in there! We did visit the local beach which is about a three mile round trip to walk, but went by car because Breeze, our GSD, isn’t up to such long walks now. It was worth the effort with a beach from the sea to the estuary - you have to be mindful of tide times though! The cottage itself was very cosy, lovely and warm and comfortably furnished. The lounge had a Xmas tree and decorations. We were able to make space for all of our Xmas food and had everything we needed in terms of pots and pans to cook dinners. Our five year old Granddaughter’s bedroom had stairs up to the very low ceiling roof space with a big tv, games and bean bags. She was able to negotiate the stairs but a younger child or adult with mobility issues might struggle. The utility room with sink was useful for cleaning footwear and the washer and tumble drier were very efficient and useful especially as it rained every day of our two weeks! We were able to allocate a bathroom per couple which was convenient and the hot water was plentiful although it appeared to shut down at 11pm. We all slept well in comfortable beds and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The dogs were safe in the enclosed garden but, inside, our GSD struggled to negotiate the laminate flooring throughout and benefited from ‘islands’ that I made from her bedding and towels so that she could be with us without sliding around. The location of the cottage was great for exploring - we visited Plymouth, Totnes, Hope Cove, Thurlestone Sands and Salcombe. The roads are narrow, part of the charm to my mind, but passing places are plentiful. I would recommend the cottage, the booking process for which was very straightforward and efficient, including contact with the owner who was willing to answer any questions. … see more

Our perfect holiday.

Rose Cottage was the perfect holiday for us. The cottage is very well equipped with everything that we could possibly need including some luxury items that we don’t have at home - large power shower, super comfy queen size bed and the water they use from their very own well tastes so delicious, it’s even better than the expensive bottled water we brought with us..!! Our holiday was so peaceful and relaxing, whether we chose to sit in the private garden listening to all the chatty birds that came to visit, or gazing at the beautiful countryside that surrounds the farm. Yet, it’s only a moments drive from stunning coastal walks, amazing beaches and a variety of excellent places to eat out. We loved it so much that we’ve booked again for next year..!! … see more
