Get away from it all and pamper yourself in our two-hundred year-old, stone-built stable block, converted in 2012 into a bijou two-room cottage, perfect for couples of all ages, and easily able to accommodate a baby or toddler in a cot. Luxuriously kitted out with heated slate floors, marble bathroom with power shower, solid oak furniture, easy-to-use woodburner, fully-equipped kitchen, and snug leather sofa, Rose Cottage provides the perfect refuge and haven at the end of a hard day enjoying all that the South Devon coast has to offer. Tucked away in a sheltered south-facing valley, five miles from Kingsbridge, and 40 minutes drive from both Dartmoor and the fascinating medieval town of Totnes, Rose Cottage offers easy and direct access to the superb beaches of Start Bay – Beesands, Slapton, Blackpool Sands and Hallsands – as well as the many sandy coves between Start Point and East Portlemouth, and of course the renowned South Devon Coast Path, making it a paradise for walkers (and their dogs!), birdwatchers, stargazers and watersports fanatics, as well as those who love a traditional seaside holiday.
Couples with a toddler are welcome to use our cot and highchair at no extra cost. We welcome well behaved pets at an additional charge of £25 per week.
Rose Cottage is one of three imaginatively converted farm buildings at Cotmore Farm. The others are The Barn, an airy, light-filled, reverse-level conversion with vaulted ceilings and space for five, and Appletree Cottage, which accommodates 4/5 in two bedrooms, with a fabulous open-plan living space above, opening onto a private terrace carved out of a green Devon bank.

Rose Cottage at Cotmore Farm oozes luxury everywhere you look: stylish and contemporary oak furniture, heated slate floors, a fully equipped oak kitchen and a marble tiled shower room are complemented by original art on every wall. Three sets of French doors to the garden ensure the cottage is filled with light, whatever the weather. A comfy leather sofa, HD TV with satellite, and a woodburner for colder evenings add the final, pampering touches.

Rose Cottage is located at the end of the farm courtyard. Its enclosed private garden has a flagged and gravelled patio area with outdoor dining facilities and barbecue, a terrace planted with mature trees, climbing shrubs and groundcover, and a well stocked herb garden for guests’ use. A gate at the end of the garden opens onto our own pasture, with views to the sea a mile away, and gives direct access through the farm fields to a network of quiet lanes, footpaths, bridleways, and the superb South Devon Coast Path.

“Great second stay”
This was our second stay in Rose Cottage at Cotmore Farm, and it was just as good as the first. Rose cottage has everything you need and is situated in a peaceful location and is only five minutes or so from Beesands beach for the dogs. The Cotmore bacon that can be purchased is a must, its fantastic. Looking forward to a third visit in 2018.
“Wonderful cottage for a quick break”
We stayed at Rose Cottage for a week and we found it to be a wonderful place. The cottage itself has been decorated to a high standard and it was very warm, especially since the weather was quite cold. We really enjoyed the welcome basket of coffee, jam, bread and the chilli chocolate! The owners also allowed us to bring our dog (well-behaved) and there are several dog-friendly beaches (Beesands etc.) close to the cottage. Overall a great place to wind-down & relax.
“A piece of Heaven in Devon”
Fantastic stay at Cottemore Farm, the hosts Piers and Sue made us welcome throughout our stay, we had our 2 Rottwiellers with us and they were just as welcome (they are well behaved by the way). The facilities were first class and no corners have been cut in the refurbishment. absolutely lovely. a fantastic place to relax and enjoy and to explore the area from. We'll be back!
We stayed at Rose cottage for 5 nights in May. We were looking for somewhere we could relax and recuperate in a beautiful peaceful setting while having all the comforts of home and we found it in Rose Cottage. The cottage itself is done up to a high standard as has all the benefits of home. The setting is beautiful and having our own little garden area to enjoy some sunshine while eating a lazy breakfast was lovely. The farm itself is located close to some villages for some nice local pubs and is about 15 minutes from Kingsbridge. We would highly recommend Rose Cottage for a rural retreat and Piers and Sue are very gracious hosts.
“Greta place for a cosy break for 2”
We had a lovely stay at Rose cottage. The cottage itself was well kept and had everything we needed. The welcome basket was very useful on our first evening and it was lovely to be able to collect fresh eggs for our breakfast. At the end of the day the wood burner made our evenings very cosy, especially as the winds were positively arctic! The setting was very relaxing with lovely views down to the sea from the patio and we were close to some great places to visit. Coleton Fishacre and Dartmoor are well worth the drive and the Cricket Inn in Beesands, the Tradesmans Arms in Stokenham and the Ship at Noss Mayo (a little bit further afield but on a great section of the coastal path) are great for food.
“Lovely, cosy cottage in the heart of the South Hams”
We stayed in Rose Cottage over the Christmas week and thoroughly enjoyed our break even though we were really unlucky with the weather! The cottage is really cosy and has been renovated beautifully, the kitchen/dining/lounge area is very well laid out and we found the bed wonderfully comfortable. The log burner made for a welcome sight following our wet and windy days out, and we made good use of it. Piers is friendly and helpful and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch, filled with lots of local goodies, including eggs from the farm. We didn't get a chance to wander around the farm due to the almost incessant downpours, but we did manage to get out and about with trips to Dartmouth, Plymouth, Newton Abbott and of course Kingsbridge. We even managed to visit Bigbury on Sea on the only sunny afternoon of the whole week! Great fun to watch the kite and wind surfers whilst sipping a cup of hot chocolate at the Venus Cafe. All in all it was a lovely week and I'd definitely recommend the cottage and wouldn't hesitate to return (preferably in better weather!)
“A perfect week”
We had a wonderful week at Cotmore Farm with our dog. The cottage had high quality appliances and everything you would need apart from wifi signal. The countryside around the farm was beautiful and great for walking, although the road to the beach was steep and had many turns so it was not ideal for strolling down to the sea. It was lovely to learn about the farm and enjoy the variety of farm animals that live on Cotmore. It's also worth following some of the suggestions in the information pack; the coastal walk to the lighthouse via Hallsands, Llannacombe beach and the South Devon Chilli Farm are all definitely worth a visit. Piers and his family were unobtrusive but friendly and helpful. We would recommend Rose Cottage and would love to return in the future. Meg, Ben and Partner (woof)
“Can't fault it - ideal, peaceful place to relax”
A very warm welcome from Piers and Sue, who were most attentive throughout, set the tone. Cotmore Farm is an excellent spot to relax and driving around the area is easy and polite (such a change from Toronto). Plenty to see and do in the area. We stayed in Rose Cottage but saw around the Barn. Both are finished to a very high standard and the cottage had everything we needed for our stay. No complaints at all and we'd love to go back.
My boyfriend and I took a long weekend down to rose cottage. It is the perfect couples retreat surrounded by peace and calm and wonderful countryside. The cottage is delightful perfect size - cosy yet has everything you need. Loved the location , every night seeing the lighthouse flash by. We were welcomed by a lovely hamper aswell as great advice about what to do in the area. Thank you would really recommend it.
“Wonderful week in Devon”
We had a lovely week at Rose Cottage. The cottage is renovated to a high standard with high quality equipment but still has a lot of charm and comfort. The location of the cottage is lovely, with pigs nearby, a paddock for the dog to run off steam in and lots of lovely walks in the area. Piers, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. The french doors into the garden are lovely and let in lots of light. Lovelt pub/restaurant nearby in Beesands, The Cricket Inn. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.
