“Wonderful week at Loch Portain House” Very comfortable house with views to die for, had great weather apart from one day, fantastic wildlife, a stag in garden (a Royal, had 12 points) and 6/7 hinds, golden eagle, sea eagle all seen from house, TV never on, we sat at the picture window mornings then evenings after days walking for miles on the glorious beaches. Boys were kitesurfing, canoeing and a day stalking. The house was very well equipped and we had the peat fire on a few nights which was lovely with a wee dram and a North Uist Downpour Gin. The lovely housekeeper was on hand if we needed anything and let us stay an hour later on departure day as we were getting the later ferry. Had takeaway and sit in at Berneray Bistro which was delicious, meal at Lochmaddy Hotel which was also great, a visit to the seafood shop and cafe at Kallin, Grimsay is also worth a visit. We will be back, thank you x

“Bucket List destination ticked.” Cannot rate Eranca Cottage highly enough. We received a lovely welcome to this wonderful cottage from Angus. On entering the the cottage, the table was set for afternoon tea with lots of home baking. The cottage is fabulous, very comfortable, with great views and in a brilliant central location for touring Lewis and Harris. Both Angus and Agnes are lovely hosts and live next door if any help is required. Would have no hesitation in booking again if we were to visit the Island.

“Turning a potential problem into a fantastic stay” A week of cancelled ferries and lots of rain, but still had a fantastic time. Harris is beautiful no matter what the weather. Donalda was a fantastic host. We were a day late arriving due to broken down ferry. We eventually arrived at 11.30 pm (30 hours later than planned) by a different route, but previous occupants of the cottage were stranded and couldn't get off the island until after we arrived. Could have been a nightmare, but Donalda had a solution and offered us her 'spare' cottage, just up the road from Clishom. This was all sorted out through emails before we arrived and the cottage looked brilliant, so we decided to take the offered spare cottage, rather than the stranded occupant moving out to the spare. We had always loved staying at Clishom - always warm, well equipped, clean, lovely views and a good location. Although it hasn't a garden, walking the dogs is easy, as the lane next to the cottage goes down to the sea. However, we weren't disappointed with not staying in Clishom as the 'spare' cottage we were offered as an alternative was amazing. Donalda usually keeps this for friends and family. But lucky for us and the stranded family in Clishom it was empty the week we were there. There was no pressure put on us to take the spare cottage, but it turned out to be a real treat. Thank you Donalda for another great stay and for offering us the choice of your spare cottage.

“A lovely piece of paradise” We had an amazing time at The ard. Our host, Norma, made sure that we were comfortable and happy and definitely made us feel very welcome with delicious scones and chocolates waiting for us on arrival! Everything about teh cottage is beautiful and it definitely felt like a little slice of luxury. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in! Our children also enjoyed the holiday and loved the little touches like the spa, heated towel rails and lots of tv channels! Thank you Norma for a wonderful holiday - we will definitely recommend you to all our friends who may be travelling to your part of the world in the future. A wonderful place to stay!

“Best location on Harris!” Perfect, secluded location at the waters edge but only ten minutes from the ferry terminal. So quiet, Bob the seal visited at least once daily, welcomed by deer in the garden on arrival day then frequently throughout the weeks stay. Rock pools on the doorstep, children spent hours just exploring the rocks and making great memories. It was hard to drag them away to explore the rest of the island but we all fell in love with the amazing beaches.Endless sands and practically empty Luskentyre and Scarista were favourites a short drive from the cottage. The cottage itself a perfect balance of tasteful decoration and many homely touches (the welcome wine very much appreciated!) As two families sharing the main house and end house we had more than ample space for all.We were all sad to leave and can’t wait to return to Harris!

“A Little Slice of Heaven” This is a beautiful holiday home with stunning views in a perfect location. We were made to feel so welcome by the owner and the property felt very homey and relaxing. I would love to recommend this holiday rental to everyone I know but I'm also a little selfish and a part of me would love to keep this heavenly hideaway a secret. If you are thinking of renting this my advice would be go for it, I promise that you will not regret it!!!

“Just as we expected.” This was our second visit to Mol Ban and was expected excellent in all ways. The house is very comfortable, clean & welcoming, even to the log burning stove being set ready for us to light; which this year we did not require to do, as the underfloor heating was sufficient. When we arrived there was a lovely home made cake sitting on the sideboard & a bottle if milk in the fridge, these little touches makes one feel welcome straight away. Once again we enjoyed sitting looking out the wonderful "window wall' we did not see as many Seals as last year, nor have we yet seen an Otter, however we did see on more than one occasion, see the Golden Eagle which the adults thought magnificent, we were more excited about this than our six year old grandson, who is really too young to understand what a treat that really was. We will probably not manage to visit Mol Ban in 2015 for family reasons, but we would like to thank angus & Beverley for giving us the opportunity to spend our Easter Holiday at their very comfortable house, and assure them we fully intend to visit in the future. We would also like to thank Mamie for getting the house clean & ready for us

“A stylish, comfortable cottage in an ideal location for touring” Abhainn Cottage proved to be the perfect choice for our winter trip to Lewis. Spacious, modern, warm and fantastically well-equipped with everything we needed, it was also in a great location near the Callanish stones. The kitchen has all mod cons, a dining table and breakfast bar if you choose to eat in. There's also a jacuzzi in the bath, a sauna in the massive bathroom, Sky TV in all the rooms and a proper fire in the living room. We had no cause to contact David the owner but got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for him. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Car hire recommended.

“Wow what a fantastic holiday” Anne ,Chris & Riley were very welcoming and friendly. They were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the island and the information they provided was very useful. The house has everything and more for what you require and the real fire is so welcoming. Views were amazing especially looking down to the bridge and river. We would love to return in the spring when you have longer hours of sunlight because when it gets dark it really gets dark. However the dark nights are also a bonus as we did not know there were so many stars in the sky.

“Just Stunning” If you’re looking for a remote getaway Manish cottage is perfect! Apart from the sheep - there are lots of sheep! - we were alone which is what we wanted. The cottage has everything you could need and even a few extras, although there is absolutely no phone/internet signal so make sure you take a book!

“A photographers paradise” Met by Ken on arrival and given a very good briefing of all the island attractions and places to eat. The complimentary wine, flowers and biscuits are a nice touch. The accommodation is very clean and contains all you require for a short stay. It is also very convenient for the town of Stornaway and the routes out to tour the island. We arrived for a 7 day stay for me to photograph the area. We had snow, sleet, hail, rain, gusting gale force winds and sunshine.......all in one day! It was brilliant. I had skyscapes and seascapes to die for. The island has to be seen from tip to toe to see all the various land forms. A MUST DO. Drive the 'Golden Road' from North to South in the morning and then return via the West coast road in the afternoon. Its a photographers paradise. You will not regret it. We are glad we done it out of season as some of the single track roads will prove difficult in the tourist season when someone will take their camper van was out into the wilds but there are enough passing places. Eating out is well catered for from a carvery in a local hotel to the best place, Digby Chicks in Stornaway. You have to book and to get the cheaper rate book for an early evening meal, say about 6pm.
