“Superb accomodation in a superb location” We were lucky enough to stay at Plas yn Ial during the recent half term, in which the house proved a fabulous outpost for various trips around wales, for example Snowdon in about 45 minutes. I wish we'd spent more time in the house itself. It was warm, cosy, kitted out to a very high standard and the owners were wonderfully hospitable and accomodating. Slightly cliched but it was indeed a home from home, and we will definitely be returning in the future.
“Dog friendly cottage” A really great place to stay. Enclosed garden and field perfect for our lurcher - take care on the steep slope though if your dog likes to run. Cottage itself was cosy and well equiped. Great views of the hills from the garden. Five minutes walk gets you to the old tramway path that runs alongside the river. Definitely would return.
“CENTRALLY LOCATED COTTAGE” A fully fitted cottage right in the heart of Llangollen within 1 minute to all the Restaurants, Pubs and Shops. This cottage has a comfortable lounge with fully fitted open kitchen attached and back door leading to a small but sunny back yard. It has a good sized bathroom on the first floor with a twin bedded room with en suite facilities. On the second floor there is double bedroom with a four poster bed with no toilet facilities. There was a television in both bedrooms and the lounge with the facility to play DVD'S. Overall this was a perfect place to use as a base for a short break in the Llangollen area and we would thoroughly recommend to anyone.
“A magical place” This is say gem of a cottage, everything you need is waiting for you.
A warm welcome from very nice owners and dog.
The cottage is set in a beautiful location close to all tourist attractions in and around Llangollen.
Come see for yourself you will love it .
Thank you both again .
“Lovely Cottage, beautifully located” We stayed in Penlan cottage as part of a big family trip to North Wales. Due to numbers, the family members were spread across a number of different properties and locations, but I think we came up trumps with this one!
The cottage is right on the banks of a river (Dee?) and has the most amazing views. We were able to sit out on the river terrace and watch the sun set behind the hills on the other side of the valley, even though it was only March - perfect place for a glass of wine.
The inside of the house is simply and tastefully decorated. Everything looked fresh and clean, which is important to me. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is a proper size and has a decent dining table (I find the kitchen in rental properties is often very small). There is also a good size sitting room with two big sofas - so plenty of room for everyone to spread out.
Plenty to do in the local area - we filled our time with walking, eating and drinking!
I would highly recommend. We're already talking about going back for a long weekend sometime in the summer - but just the two of us this time!

We stayed at Penlan Cottage for 4 nights at the end of August. A lovely comfortable cottage, in an amazing location with a great Pub across the road....what more could you ask for!
We are a family of 4 (children 14 &10) and I must say for such a stunning, quiet location, the kids were entertained. From the river bank of the cottage, they both had a go at fly fishing (we took our own rod and a fishing licence for children is free).
The River Dee was peaceful, quiet and welcoming enough for them to take a swim and have a go in the kayak, which they have previous experience of. We even spent time picking apples from the tree and Blackberries from the river bank.
We ate 3 out of the 4 nights in the pub and definitely recommend the food and friendly atmosphere.
Penlan was cosy and clean, Sally has thought of all those extra special touches to make you feel right at home, plenty of towels, toiletries and household items.
