“Amazing Getaway” 11 of my friends and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate graduating university. The house is absolutely beautiful and exceeded my expectations! We had a great stay and Gail was extremely helpful and left us a lovely hamper to enjoy at the start of our stay. We couldn't be happier and hope to return in the future!

“A little piece of home-from -home on the edge of the highlands.” A most enjoyable stay in a beautifully converted stable block.Everything needed to make your stay as comfotable as possible was provided.The location was perfect for exploring the Moray Firth area and the area around Inverness.Our visit to Cawdor castle was a delight and the cstle must be seen to be believed,definitely worth a visit.Barbara and all her family were extremely friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit and eat.

“Great!” Balblair cottage is so cosy and super clean. Barbara (Owner) was very friendly, helpful and gave us a warm welcome. Everything you want was just there. We really enjoyed the lighting the fire place, which was a new experience for us. It is close to all amenities and you can see many things around within a short drive from the cottage. It is situated in a very calm and peaceful area. We loved our stay in this lovely cottage and would definitely recommend to anyone. This would be our home whenever we come to Inverness again! “Lovely, welcoming and comfortable home a short walk from central Inverness” This was a great place for us two couples to stay over the marathon weekend. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we had a few breakfasts and dinners around the table. The lounge was cosy, and the two bedrooms comfortable. Our first night was noisy due to some happy neighbours, but we understand this was a one-off and it was mostly quiet the rest of our stay. The owners were very helpful.

“Never wanted to leave” My husband and I had a clear expectation of what we wanted from our trip to Scotland and spent some time trawling through cottages and hotels online planning our 17 day tour to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We searched through what seemed like hundreds of self catering properties looking for that special place that ticked all the boxes. Mor Carraig was one of the first to appear on the search results and we were instantly blown away. We respectfully looked at many other properties and even shortlisted a few but we knew we had found our winner. We wanted a period property with mod cons but still be full of character. A log fire was the one thing that we would not compromise on and Mor Carraig did not let us down. The pictures online are but a glimpse of the charm and warmth you can expect. We fell in love with the place from the moment we arrived at the driveway gate. If you want modern living and clean cut lines then look elsewhere. But if you are looking for a place that's rustic, embraces its location, its heritage and begs you to forget about the rest of the world for just a little while then look no further. We will say all the usual like the beds were comfy, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, the property was clean and tidy as that too is important as an expectation, and all get a big bold tick. Communication with Paul the owner was excellent and support was on hand nearby if required. Basically nothing disappointed us regarding amenities and maintenance. The views are fantastic especially over Loch Ness and although you are in a remote rural location its easy enough to pick up supplies in Drumnadrochit which even has a small Co-op (We did our main shop at Morrisons in Inverness on the way to the cottage). What is hard to see from the photos and hard to express in writing is the sheer hold this place had on us. My husband summed it up one night sitting by the fire with a glass of wine, looking around at the decor. "This place just works". It’s a great base to tour the Highlands from and of course Loch Ness. We had some great days out but always looked forward to coming home to the cottage. We are already planning our next stay but still feeling the pain of having to tear ourselves away.
