“A truly great experience staying in a wonderful property” We had a super holiday at the mill and can't wait to return. The owners should be proud of a great conversion that is practice and very stylish. The surrounding area is beautiful and our three young children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area around the mill as well as trips out around Dumfries and Galloway. Great days were had at cream of Galloway, kircudbright, Dalton pottery and Rockcliffe beach .

The Garden Apartment
Clean, comfortable and convenient for the beach at Sandyhills - an ideal base for our holiday!

The Garden Apartment is just a short walk to Sandyhill's beach and located in a woodland setting - an ideal base for exploring the Galloway coast. The property was clean and comfortable and dog-friendly - an ideal base for our holiday! … see more
Cumstoun Lodge
Mrs

The lodge is in a great location to use as a base and go out exploring. Although the lodge was very cold when we arrived, the whole place warms up quickly once the heaters are on. The lodge is fully equipped with everything you'll need for a self catering holiday. Dalbeattie is a ten minute drive away for any necessary essentials. As we were there for Burns Night, we got some haggis from the butchers in Dalbeattie, and had a traditional burns supper. We did a lovely coastal walk with our Border Collie, from Sandyhills Caravan Park (which is only 500yrds down the road from the entrance to the lodges) to Rockcliffe, which is about 5.5miles, and caught the bus back. Beautiful sea views and a great walk. One of the highlights of staying here is the wildlife. If you take bird seed and nuts for the squirrels, you won't be disappointed. We also saw deer and a badger, and we only stayed three nights. Beautiful part of the world to visit and a great place to stay. see more
Gilnockie
what an amazing place in a wonderful location

We travelled in the worst imaginable conditions on the 22nd March to this beautiful lodge. We were not disappointed and cannot believe we found such an idyllic place to spend a very snowy easter break. the lodge was spotless and had everything we needed to cater for ourselves and our cavaliers. I cannot recommend everything highly enough. well worth the stress of the journey which we would happily make againsee more
The Mill
If it's peace, tranquility and getting close to nature that you want - then this is the place!

We chose The Mill because it seemed to offer a stylish and relaxing venue for my husband and I to enjoy some respite after a stressful few months. The location is in a delightful part of Dumfries and Galloway- near the Solway Coast and within reach of the artists' town of Kirkudbright , the book town of Wigton and the food town of Castle Douglas. Situated on a farm in a totally peaceful spot just a couple miles from the coast, the Mill is a fantastic conversion which offers comfort, space, light and all the mod cons you would want on holiday. The huge, floor to ceiling glass doors and windows which look out onto a beautiful walled garden are just amazing. We spent hours sitting at the table just watching the birds and red squirrels at the bird table. We saw woodpeckers, chaffinches, all kinds of tits and many others there. The Mill has been designed as an environmentally friendly house - using modern Eco technology. It all works so perfectly, that quite frankly, you would probably have no idea if you were not told. We were very impressed with the results! Although the Mill is large enough for a family and can sleep 6, I personally thought it was just perfect for the 2 of us. There is one beautifully stylish shower room next to the double bedroom downstairs - a perfect en-suite! There is a small twin bedroom upstairs - accessed by external stone steps. Mobile phone coverage on our network (O2) was non existent but the provision of a landline and WiFi meant there was no worry about emergency contact if required. This is no 'boutique' property. The house is a mixture of new and old but overall it is, cosy, comfortable and brightly furnished and well equipped. We like kitchens that allow us to cook and we were able to do so here. We also liked the fact that games, DVDs and books were in plentiful supply. Laura, Alan and Iona (not forgetting the spaniel Finn) were friendly and helpful without ever being intrusive. From the very beginning of the booking process, we were impressed with the care, concern and attention to detail that they exhibited. The outside space is also delightful; we thoroughly enjoyed our week there and hope to return!see more
Greenthorns (Secluded private garden, forest walks, beach & golf courses nearby)
Great rural rental.

Nice property, well appointed and very well suited for a family stay - lots of space inside and out. Ideal base for exploring the local area which is beautiful. Booking process very straight forward and helpful assistance from the owner. … see more
Screel Lodge
Screel Lodge

We have been coming to the same lodge for a number of years now and have never yet had one bad word to say. The lodge is situated in a perfect location - scenic, peaceful, surrounded by wildlife and lovely walks. The lodge is perfect for families and has a lovely cosy and homely feeling about it. The lodge has all the amenities you would need for your stay and the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge makes the whole lodge feel very communal. The balcony helps for those who want to use it for wildlife spotting, particularly on an evening, where you can see badgers and fox! We saw deer and red squirrels most mornings. The lodge is a short driving distance from towns such as Dalbeattie, castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright which we enjoyed having a walk around. Bar End pub was lovely for a meal and would go back there again! Overall, another very relaxing family holiday had. Can't wait to return.see more
