Kingfisher Lodge
Kingfisher Lodge

Perfect weekend away! Stunning viewings and beautiful scenary. The lodge itself was perfect and Richard was so helpful too as we didn't know the local area. Planning on returning very soon! Thank you for all your help. … see more
MoorhenLodge
Lovely lodge next to quiet fishing lake

We stayed in Moorhen lodge for 7 nights in the May half term 2021. It was a lovely lodge on a quiet site with 4 lodges in total set beside two fishing lakes. It had everything we needed, and even had a couple of disposable bbq's under the sink which we didn't use. The site was a great base for visiting North Devon seaside resorts/towns. The hot tub was lovely and a great way to wind down after a busy day visiting nearby beaches/towns. The site is very peaceful at night and has great views of the stars on a clear evening - light pollution restricts our views back home. We could see loads of fish in the lakes (and hear them splashing occasionally). We don't fish but our 9 year was intrigued by our neighbours catching fish throughout our visit. The owners were very friendly too. We didn't have any problems so didn't need to call on them during the stay but they are contactable by phone if needed. We recommend paying a visit to the Coach and Horses in nearby buckland brewer. The roast and steaks were lovely. The little one loved his chicken burger too. It had some local cider on tap too which always helps. We had a lot of fun visiting local towns/beaches: Westward Ho! - Great for rock pooling, body boarding, arcades and had a nice green with a play area surrounded by bars/restaurants. We recommend tea on the green for cream teas - the cheese scone was amazing. Appledore - Great for crabbing off the harbour wall before lunch. We even caught some jellyfish later in the day. Loads of nice little shops to visit. We ate in the Beaver Inn at the otherside of the main car park. It had lovely views and the food was excellent. The mussels I had were fresh from the harbour. Woolacombe beach - The main part of the beach was rammed and the main car parks were full. We found a car park up the hill (Marine Drive), there was a cafe called Porthole in this car park but we didn't use it. There were some cut throughs down to the middle of the beach which had dogs running about in this section. It was nice to see dogs having fun but you could go to the main section if you want to be away from the dogs. The main section is where the restaurants/shops/arcades were all loacted. The beach was clean and sandy and the waves were excellent for bodyboarding. However the central part where we were didn't have any toilets. Ilfracombe - We visited here after spending the early afternoon at the banger racing about 2miles from Ilfracombe. If the banger racing is on, then we recommend paying a visit. We all loved it. Ilfracombe is defintely worth a visit. It had a nice atmosphere and there are plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also a harbour but the water was out when we got there. We walked to poer and found some rock pools which had fish and crabs. You also have the Verity statue to see. Lynton & Lynmouth - These are two lovely towns which are bustling with life. They are connected by a cliff railway that is powered by water. There is a harbour at the bottom which is good for crabbing. We ate in the pavillion dining room, the crab sandwich, breakfast bap and ploughmans were lovely. Overall I would highly recommend staying at valley view lakes and lodges.see more
BUCKLAND BREWER COB BARN | 2 Bedrooms
Cob barn

Perfect little place. Very out of the hustle and bustle of life. The drive way down is long and bumpy but accessible. We had our two dogs with us, although the garden is quite small it was adequate as there is a large field you can take them to just across communal grass area. Shops are nearby and the beach is 20 mins away, westward ho allows dogs but You have to go right to the right of the beach and there is no amenities just beach. It was very nice indeed staying here, very sweet pub up the road, coach and horses, good food. All in all a fab holiday, in the middle of no where! Perfect! Beware of the horse flies tho!see more
Mallard Lodge
Lovely place

Lovely place so quiet and peaceful. Lots of wildlife around the lodges. Owners were very friendly and responded very quickly to a problem we had anf resolved it straight away. Only negative would be the mattress in the master bedroom could do with being resprung or replaced. Had a wonderfully peacefull break lots of rest and relaxation. Thank yousee more
