“Outstanding self-catering accommodation in glorious North Devon” We stayed in the Courtyard Cottage which was spotless and fresh. Everything you could wish for in a self-catering cottage - a home from home really (with more tellys in our case). Fresh eggs from Sue and John's chickens and a box of biscuits provided on arrival as a welcome. We thought it was a lovely touch. Excellent amenities within the cottage complex - lovely swimming pool (did not use) and there are bikes (and helmets) for hire if you need them. Tarka Trail is nearby and is worth a walk or bike ride. Local Sainsburys close by, which we found very handy. Try the lovely local Hockings ice cream (made in Appledore) the van was selling in their car park. Very well placed accommodation for touring the area, we were out every day (mind you, we were blessed with sunny weather). But there's lots to do, whatever the weather. John, Sue and son, John Ross, are lovely people.

“Just wonderful” We came here with our children and grandchildren and the Roundhouse was perfect for us. Plenty of room and all facilities of a very high standard. Full marks for the most comfortable beds and nice powerful showers. The pool was wonderfully warm and was a big hit with the grandchildren who also enjoyed feeding the chickens each morning. There is so much to do on-site you almost don't need to leave. We hope to return sometime soon.

“Lovely Family friendly get away!” I had an urge to get away from London so found myself looking for a cottage for a week. I took my best pal and her little lad with me so needed somewhere toddler friendly that was close to beaches and activities. I came across the Courtyard Cottage on Holiday Lettings. I loved the look of it and knew the area somewhat so booked a week. And what a lovely week it was, the cottage has everything you could need plus we were left a delicious cake, bottle of wine and pint of milk to turn up to. We loved the beach at Croyde which became our fave and even though it was April were in the sea in our wetsuits. We also visited the dinosaur and wildlife park. To be quite honest though, all my friends son needed was the chicken and lambs owned by the cottage owners who were kind enough to let him feed them (twice a day!). Thank you very much for a relaxing and lovely week!

“Perfect location to explore Devon and a wonderful cottage with great facilities” Rose cottage is perfect! It's spacious and modern but also still has that cosy country feel. It has a huge kitchen diner with 4 spacious bedrooms and 3 bathroom/shower rooms as well as an extra loo downstairs. There were 4 adults and 3 children in our party and the layout suited us perfectly. The pool was beautiful and we were lucky enough to time it right and have it to ourselves every day. The games room was good fun as was the play area next to the animals. The kids absolutely loved it!! Although we were lucky enough to have great weather we would have been fine just staying in and using the facilities (which is what the boys wanted to do most of the time anyway). We visited Fremington Quay, Instow, Appledore, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe which were all very near and I thoroughly recommend. We had a great holiday and have booked for next year already - many thanks to the owners for sharing their lovely farm and thanks to the chickens for our fresh eggs every day !!

“Wonderful holiday” We arrived after very difficult journey with heavy traffic. Marsh cottage had a wonderful relaxing feel. The silence was blissful. No traffic. The cottage has everything you need and more. We loved cooking and eating with the French doors wide open. The Hunters Inn provided an excellent set of meals to suit us all. Our grandchildren loved the garden and the Jenga. beautiful places to visit, especially Tarr steps. Thanks you Claire we enjoyed every minute and had a holiday to remember.

“3* prices for almost 5* accommodation.” Where to start? The web site, I had to compliment the owners early on for an excellent web site that gives you almost all the information you need. Due to the constant improvements being carried out the published brochure that we received was a little out of date but that’s understandable. Just before arrival why not book a veg and fruit delivery – ours was excellent! When booking any accommodation the published photos are usually well out of date and on arrival you often find the interior rather tired looking but not with this property, every room, every facility met or exceeded our expectations. Sadly the sauna was out of order for our stay but the pool was great and used at least once a day by the family. If you are into badminton equipment is supplied so you don’t need your own. A few comments for dog owners (and if you are not rest assured some of the accommodation is strictly pet free). Local walks are excellent but be careful on the single track road outside the complex. If you enjoy walking with a watering hole on route, turning either left or to the right on the main road will take you to a dog friendly pub, both of which serve food. According to my mate Tom Tom one is 0.7 miles and the other a little further at 0.75 miles. Of course that is fine for we owners but what do our canine friends really like? For ours it was the beaches. As far as we could see most beaches had seasonal restrictions but only for part of the area. Even in November some beach car parks were still charging but nothing extortionate and the quality of the beaches made that worthwhile. As much as we have enjoyed our pre-Christmas family get-togethers over the years we have always found somewhere new for the next gathering. Combrew Cottages will be the first destination where we all agree that it is a place that we will return to at some point in the future – what more can I say?

“Absolutely Amazing!!!” Best holiday we have had, so homely and chilled. Beautiful cottage, a lot bigger than expected. The whole family enjoyed it. Location is perfect, nice an private but close to local amenities and places to go. Plenty to do on the farm, pool, games, room little play ground and we loved going to feed the goats and rabbits. Could not fault one thing on this holiday, absolutely fantastic. Thank you Sue for making my families holiday fabulous! See you next year xx

“Stay at Woodpecker lodge” We had a lovely stay - really can’t fault the accommodation - spacious, clean and dog friendly with wonderful grounds to explore. Any problems we had the owners sorted immediately. Would definitely love to stay again, but as we loved the peace and tranquility, we would be worried about staying when the barn is converted into an event venue
