The Fife region
The ancient Kingdom of Fife boasts many historic attractions of its own as well as being within easy travelling distance to Edinburgh, Perth and Stirling. It's an easy trip into Edinburgh for the Festival either by car or by train from Kirkcaldy.
Justly famous as the Home of Golf, St Andrews also boasts a cathedral, castle and one of the oldest universities in the world as well as wonderful beaches.
It is also possible to visit many other historic sites, Dunfermline Abbey, Culross, and Falkland Palace to name but a few. We also have a 'Secret Bunker' where Scotland would have been governed from in the event of a nuclear war, assuming anyone had been left to govern!
Apart from the famous St Andrews Golf Courses there are about 40 other golf courses in Fife so plenty to keep the keenest Golfer happy.
Fife also has a long and varied coastline, ideal to explore and beautiful to look at. Apart from the beaches, here are also many activities aimed at children from Deep Sea World to a Deer Park.
Upper Largo is in The East Neuk of Fife which boasts beautiful fishing villages and according to the Met Office an average of 1500 hours sunshine per year. We unfortunately can't arrange the weather for your stay though we do however offer a very nice garden!
The village itself is unspoilt and much of it round the church, including the cottage, is within a conservation area.
Upper Largo makes a very convenient and delightfully peaceful base for exploring the fantastic beaches and countryside in this area as well as offering easy access to many historic buildings and towns. Obviously we are also ideally situated for golf as well as walking, cycling and water sports.
