About the home
Kirk View Apartment is a newly refurbished upper flat in a two-story building in Alexandra Street, a peaceful leafy Victorian area in the coastal town of Kirkcaldy just 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Ideal for family holidays, the centrally heated apartment being cosy at all times of year, is also ideal for winter breaks. The kitchen and master bedroom look out across gardens to the impressive 300ft spire of St Brycedale Kirk. The kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, or just eat in town. With its numerous cafes and restaurants and wealth of shops, Kirkcaldy's pedestrianised town centre is the ideal place to refuel after a day exploring. And what a lot there is to explore - a string of picturesque fishing villages to east and west along Fife's 150 km coastline, historic mansions, and castles, island boat trips, hills to climb. Being a pleasant 10 minutes walk to the train station, the Apartment is well located for trips by local train (4 or 5 per hour) along the scenic coastal route across the Forth Rail Bridge to the vibrant (though exhausting) cosmopolitan city of Edinburgh. Or have a quiet day in town visiting Kirkcaldy's Museum and Art Gallery, Ravencraig Catle and Park, Beveridge Park, or shopping. The apartment has a sunny south facing lawn and patio where you can relax with a drink on a warm summer's evening. More details on our own website www.scottishholidayrentals.com

The Fife region

It you want a skiing holiday don't come to Fife. But Fife has just about everything else whether you are here for a family holiday, romantic break, or a coastal walking holiday with friends. Visit the string of picturesque fishing villages to east and west along Fife's stunningly beautiful150 km coastline. Spend time at an historic mansion like Falkland Palace, Kellie Castle or just across the bridge, Hopetoun House. Visit nearby Ravenscraig Castle, or Aberdour Castle, or take a boat trip out to the castle where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned on an island in Loch Leven, Kinross. You can take a boat trip across the sea to Inchcolm with its monastery or May Island, both with abundant bird life. Take a trip by the local train (4 or 5 per hour) along the scenic coastal route across the Forth Rail Bridge to the vibrant (though exhausting) cosmopolitan city of Edinburgh. If golf is your thing there are nearly 50 courses in Fife, two of which are in Kirkcaldy.
The Kirkcaldy area
The coastal town of Kirkcaldy is on the main Edinburgh Aberdeen railway line, providing easy access fom the South of England or North of Scotland. The pedestrianised shopping centre is just 5 minutes walk from your apartment with individual and chain stores like M&S and Waterstones, and lots of cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Take in a show at the Adam Smith Theatre, and visit the Museum to find out more about the history of Kirkcaldy, and the Art Gallery with its excellent collection of works by Scottish artists. There are three large parks, including the Beveridge park with its boating lake and facilities for children, and Ravenscraig by the sea, again with play parks and its adjacent castle and walks to the picturesque harbour of Dysart, where the Harbourmaster's House has a cafe and displays about the Fife Coastal Path. Dunnikier Park has a golf course. For all weather activities for all the family visit Cluny Clays where you try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, archery, or golf on the driving range.
