Tick Tock Cottage
About the home
Enjoy the very best Peak District scenery being located close to the Chatsworth House Estate, gritstone crags and moorlands. You will be surrounded by magnificent Peak District countryside and share it with abundant wildlife, plants and birds.
Located in a central position you are in easy reach of all the many Peak District attractions. .Whatever your age or interests, whether walking, (many routes from the door), fishing, bird watching, cycling, horse riding, sight seeing, photography or simply enjoying peace and quiet, you will find this a perfect place to take a break.
Baslow provides the ideal Peak District central base from which to visit the many varied attractions on offer. These include Bakewell market town and interesting shopping just 10 minutes away, Buxton spa town and location of the internationally renowned and restored Buxton Opera House. The Hope Valley and scenic Derwent Dams are a short drive.
Close by the magnificent stately home of Chatsworth House (Britain's finest stately home - residence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire), is only walking distance from Tick Tock Cottage through the beautiful parkland.
Haddon Hall near Bakewell and Hardwick Hall are both a short easy drive.
Families (with children of all ages) can enjoy visits to Castleton with the Blue John Caverns and Matlock Bath with its cable cars and Gulliver's Kingdom are about 20 - 30 minutes drive. Alton Towers is about a one hour drive.
Excellent Spar shop is 250m walk from your cottage and large supermarket about 10 minutes drive to Bakewell. All major supermarkets deliver to Tick Tock Cottage from online ordering direct to your accommodation - so you could arrange a delivery to arrive when you are at your cottage. However, a welcome pack of essentials is always provided with compliments - the usual milk, bread, butter etc and a local delicacy, Bakewell pudding with single cream.
Enjoy eating out. If at the end of each day, you wish to eat out, there are many good and reasonably priced eating places and pubs within easy reach. Three local pubs are just a stagger from Tick Tock Cottage and have good menus and guest beers.
I've lived nearby for over 44 years and can provide you with local knowledge and tourist information on the Peak District as well as this superb two bedroom self catering accommodation at Tick Tock Cottage. In the meantime ... book early for 2012 as we enjoy many repeat visitors ...

Hubby and I stayed at Tick Tock cottage for a week in mid October, the accomodation was warm and welcoming, though did show signs of wear and tear and the welcome goodies were delightful. The one thing I certainly missed when returning home, was the huge comfortable bed. We did not get to meet Angus as he was away on holiday, but we did meet his housekeeper who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. There is lovely gift shop a few miles up the road through the village and the Chatsworth Farm shop is certainly worth a visit. |
