We are very disappointed that the quests did not enjoy their stay at High View House.
We would like to add a few comments to the quests complaints:
We do treat the house as our home in the sense that we want guests to feel at home at High View House. The house was built over 100 years and still retains many of the original features and is in very good condition.
The walk to the beach is only around 5 minutes. I wonder if the family used the shortcut of the footpath that leads to the beach across the road from the front of the house…
We would also like to point out that as the house is on the hill and we are in Wales there will be some paths/ roads that will go uphill. But nothing too strenuous.
The windows do get cleaned regularly but we get a lot of sand blowing onto the windows with the windy weather we tend to get. As the house is surrounded by trees and shrubs the cobwebs is something we are likely to get on a daily basis.
As the guests kindly point out the rest of the house was in excellent condition.
We are sorry that the guests could not sit around the dining table at one time. It does have 12 chairs and we have had that number of guests previously who have all sat around the table. However we would like to point out that there is another dining table in the kitchen that could have also been used, especially as the family had numerous teenagers.
If the lounge was not big enough- which has never been a problem for any other guests; there was another large sitting room that could have also been used.
We understand from the internal review that these particular guests did not like visiting the town and claimed that people were rude and not helpful to the English.
If the guests feel that they have been ripped off they should attempt to stay at a premier inn for 7 days for 12 guests within the area and with similar views to what they had at the house. It would certainly cost them more than twice the amount that they paid for our house.
