Garrique Cottage offers spacious and well equipped accommodation within easy reach of many of Scotland's most historic and scenic attractions. It is quiet and peaceful, with fantastic views, but close to good local pubs, cafes, and village shops.
It has its own hard tennis court and there are six reasonably priced golf courses within half an hours drive.
The kitchen/ dining/living room provides an ideal space for family activities, with doors out to a new decking area. Steps lead down to a private garden where children can play safely. The separate sitting room has a wood burning stove, and offers a haven for those who want to read, watch TV, play games or gaze at the ever changing skies over The Trossachs. The wide variety of local birds and animals is much enjoyed by many visitors.
The cottage is a fantastically central base for exploring Scotland. Many visitors make day trips to Inverness, St Andrews, Ben Nevis, Inverary, Loch Lomond, and even Iona, as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow. Others, however, prefer to relax, explore the Garrique woods, or climb the hills behind the cottage or the mountains opposite.

The Stirlingshire region
Stirlingshire lies at the heart of historic Scotland, with royal and romantic Stirling Castle crowning a thriving visitor friendly city. Those interested in history and drama can spend hours wandering around the Castle battlements, state rooms and dungeons, then wander down to Argyll's Lodging, the Church of the Holy Rude and the rest of the Old Town. The landscape west of Stirling encompasses The Trossachs mountain range, the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, the bonny banks of Loch Lomond and the Lake of Menteith, the only 'lake' in Scotland - which is a favourite with fishermen.
Places to visit around Stirling include the Bannockburn Memorial (historic 1214 victory over England), Wallace Monument (Braveheart!), Dunblane Cathedral, Doune Castle , the Falkirk Wheel ( linking the refurbished Forth/Clyde and Union Canals, with easy walking or cycling along the tow paths), Callander House and Park (a massive Georgian mansion built astride the Antonine Wall, which was the Romans' northern frontier), and the Rob Roy Centre at Callander.
Garrique Cottage is only 20 minutes drive from Stirling, and less than an hour by car from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, with their many and varied attractions. Nearer to home, Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park the Briarlands Children's Farm Park, and the Deanston Distillery Visitor Centre are all less than five miles away, as are Kippen, Gargunnock and Fintry with their choice of good pubs, cafes and village shops. Gleneagles Hotel, with its spa, championship golf courses, and Michelin starred restaurant, and the Glengoyne Distillery Visitor Centre are around forty minutes away, and Falkland Palace, Scone Palace, and Drummond Castle Gardens are within an hour's drive. Many visitors have made day trips to Inverness, St Andrews, Inverary (with its castle and jail), and even Iona.
The ski slopes of Glenshee and GlenCoe can be reached within about two hours, and the Peak Centre in Stirling offers three swimming pools, a climbing wall and an ice rink.

"Fabulous holiday destination with great hosts."
My teenage daughters and I stayed at Garrique Cottage in January 2013. The farmhouse is beautiful with every amenity you could wish for. The scenery is breathtaking and yet you are only 10 - 15 minutes from Stirling - a good sized town for shopping and also the Wallace Monument. Using this as a base we travelled to Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. All up we enjoyed a week at the farmhouse and LOVED every single minute of our time there. The hosts, Nander and Fiona, are so helpful and generous with their time and knowledge that you cannot go wrong. As a family we voted this the favourite part of our extended holiday that included California, London, Wales and Rome. As there was snow when we were there, we can recommend the farmhouse as a winter or summer destination. You'll love it!!

"Great Cottage - Stunning Setting"
The cottage was great. Accommodation was clean and just as described. Loved the kitchen/dining/living area. The cottage was lovely and warm and the wood burner great to cosy in front of at night. We were a family of 4 adults and 3 children and there was ample space for us and all the stuff we brought as well. The kitchen was well equipped. the owner was friendly and helpful. One of the main features was the stunning views! Wow! The tennis court was particularly great and there can't be many courts with a view like that - the kids loved it and spent lots of time playing on it.. Will definately be back.

We have recently returned from a 5 day stay at La Garrique. On arrival the cottage was welcoming and warm with many basic necessities such as tea, coffee etc provided - unusual for self catering. There were also some lovely touches such as toiletries and tissues provided for our use. Our family consisted of Grandparents, parents and children of 1 and 3 years old. The house was more that adequate for this mix: spacious and comfortable, and with two bathrooms at our disposal. The general cleanliness and condition of the cottage was immaculate. The garden was lovely and extended into some beautiful walks into the woods. We also made a longer walk of 4 miles by footpath to Kippen, which although muddy and uneven underfoot, was perfectly possible with the correct footwear. The surrounding area is beautifully scenic and the cottage is a hub for visiting many famous landmarks both historic and modern. Stirling is only 15 minutes drive away and we were fortunate enough to visit on 'Farmer's Market Day'. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others and would certainly consider returning at some point in the future.

"A truly delightful Cottage in a wonderful setting"
We have recently returned from a weeks holiday in this delightful cottage and promptly booked a return visit for next year! A very comfortable and well equipped cottage and kept to a high standard. The views are sensational and in an ideal position for visiting Stirling and the Trossachs, and we also visited Fort William and the surrounding area. Can't wait to return next year!!

"A true home from home in the most fantastic setting!!!!!"
The cottage is in a beautiful location off the beaten track but perfectly position for easy access to Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The accommodation was clean, spacious and very well equipped with all you could need to feel like you are at home. The beds were very very comfortable. We were a family of 5 (husband, wife, daughter - age 15, son - age 9 and granny). All of us loved the cottage, the tennis court and the free range eggs!! Walkers paradise. We found the information provided very useful and visited many of the suggested sites. Can't wait to be back.

"Lovely family cottage in a secluded spot with lovely views. Great base for exploring Trossachs"
We stayed here in November 2011 for a week. The cottage has fantastic views to the north as it is in an elevated position about 2 miles off the A811. First impressions were excellent - the cottage has a lovely open plan kitchen / dining room with sofa which suited us down to the ground with 2 small children to keep an eye on. The kitchen was really well stocked and had everything you would need. Separate living room with log fire was a real treat and nice to spend the evenings in. The location was everything we hoped for - really secluded, yet with an easy drive to sterling or across to Loch Lomand and the Trossachs. Would definitely recommend this and hope to return in the near future.

"Peace and secluded heaven"
We stayed at La Garrique cottage with an extended family - age range 6 to 66. the accomodation had something for everyone. We all enjoyed the wildlife in the immediate surroundings, and the children loved playing and exploring in the large garden. The cottage was extremely well equipped and comfortable, and the views from the windows were wonderful. There was plenty to do and see in the surrounding area, including a wildlife park, Stirling - with all of it's attractions, the Falkirk Wheel and many other places within a short drive - and a cosy house to come home to in the evenings. Finally Mr. and Mrs. Robertson were very friendly and helpful hosts (and the eggs were delicious).

"This cottage is pretty, furnished and equipped to a high standard and is in a wonderful setting."
I have rented this cottage many times because I love the location and the cottage is very comfortable, It really is home from home with the added bonus of fantastic views and beautiful birds and deer visiting the garden. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a high standard and is exceptionally clean. Within ten minutes drive of the cottage there are excellent eating places such as the Cross Keys Inn and the Inn at Kippen. Also there is another pub at Thornhill which serves good pub food. The owners of Garrique Cottage, Mr and Mrs Robertson, are very friendly and do their utmost to make their guests welcome. I have rented many holiday cottages in the past but now I would only rent this one when I visit Scotland.

"Relaxing, peaceful, great wildlife on the doorstep :-)"
What a lovely cottage, we had a wonderful week here, and we all loved it. We found lots of things to do, but we have to say the highlight of our holiday was the wildlife that we had in the garden, butterflies, birds but the best of all was the deer in the back garden, what an honour to see these beautiful creatures so close to us, and they were in the garden on a few occasions and the kids found it great too. They are some lovely walks that we did around the back of the cottage. If its a clear night the view of the stars is amazing we have never seen so many. The cottage was lovely too, very roomy, must say we loved the massive kitchen/ dining room we more or less lived in this room, a real family room. :-) If you are after a quiet, relaxing holiday then i would recomend Garrique Cottage, great location, its away from the main road, the owners Fiona & family are great, thank you so much for a great week :-)
