Description from owner
Garrique Cottage is the ideal place to stay if you are worried about Covid 19, as it is tucked away in the hills, with its own private garden and no passing traffic except that of the owners who live at the top of the drive. We are leaving at least five days between lettings so as to ensure it can be fully and safely cleaned between lets.
It is quiet and peaceful, with panoramic mountain views, and offers spacious well equipped accommodation, all on one level. The overall Garrique property provides plenty of scope for running around or taking walks including use of a hard tennis court. Visitors have seen a wide variety of birds and animals, including ravens, sparrow hawks, red kite, grouse, curlews, wood peckers, lots of song birds, deer, red squirrels, hare, stoats and rabbits.
It is within four miles of two villages with shops offering everyday items, as a well as a good butcher and delicatessen. Local pubs are offering takeaway meals during the pandemic and there is a wide choice of supermarkets in Stirling, which will deliver if booked in good time.
The 33 foot by 11 foot kitchen/ dining/living room with its beamed ceiling provides an ideal space for family activities, with doors out to a decking area with picnic table. Steps from the decking area lead to a private garden where children can play safely. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridges, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, ironing board and coffee machine.The separate sitting room has a wood burning stove (logs provided) and offers a haven for those who want to read, watch the flat screen TV or DVDs, play games or gaze at the ever changing skies over the mountain views.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are along the corridor from the sitting room. The Master bedroom with its 6 foot wide bed is at the far end and can be ensuite with the shower room by closing a door on the corridor. It can easily accommodate a cot or another single bed ( provided) if needed. The beds in the bunk room are both large enough for adults, and the single beds in the twin bedroom can be pushed together into a double bed if requested.
The family bathroom has a basin, toilet, and bath with shower attachment , and there is small room with toilet and basin just inside the back door.
The cottage is a fantastically central base for exploring Scotland, once the restrictions are eased up as it is close to a a network of motorways going north, southeast and southwest. Many visitors make day trips to Inverness, St Andrews, Ben Nevis, Inverary, Loch Lomond, and even Iona, as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow. Others prefer to relax, explore the Garrique woods, go for a bike ride along the local country lanes, or make the most of the facilities in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
The cottage has its own hard tennis court and there are six reasonably priced golf courses within half an hours drive.

The scenic views of the rolling Scottish mountains are amazing. The hosts were very attentive and gave useful information.The cottage had a fire and we were supplied with an endless amount of logs. The kitchen was a home from home and we cooked a family dinner everyday. My family had a great time, we visited the Bannockburn experience and other attractions which are nearby. A beautiful place that gave us the headspace we needed in these times. I would highly recommend this place to stay in for a delightful break. Iain

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Fiona (the owner) a message.
If Fiona (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
