A small study provides a working area with Wi-Fi internet access for the holiday-maker's own laptop or tablet, and phone (incoming calls only). One bedroom has a king-sized bed, there is an option to request this to be converted into twin beds if required, and a smaller bedroom has a standard size double bed. The bathroom has bath and over-bath electric shower. Heating is via storage heaters and wood burner. A secluded area in the back garden provides a seating area and barbecue. A small public green immediately in front of the cottage provides an additional playing space for children. Dogs are welcome for a small additional charge £2 per day, but because of free-range chickens and other livestock would need to be kept on a lead when in the outside vicinity and we would ask guests to note that the front garden is unenclosed, and that a small dog which was unsupervised might be able to get through the fencing/bushes which enclose the back garden.

The cottage is at the top of the village, and final access is via an un-metalled road - drivers be advised!

Kilmartin village, a pleasant 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive away, has a general shop and Post Office and the Kilmartin Hotel (which as well as a pub and hotel serving meals can organise and sea trips). The renowned Kilmartin House Museum offers fascinating exhibits including The Valley of Ghosts audio-visual experience, and has a bookshop and award winning café. Lochgilphead is eight miles away, and has a supermarket, delicatessen, wine shop, gift shops and a well-stocked book shop. There is a swimming pool, and a doctors' surgery. Although is a limited bus serves Slockavullin, a car is recommended to make full use of the many activities available in the area.

The Scotland region

Your Argyll holiday – off the beaten track
Argyll is everything you would imagine the west coast of Scotland to be – and more, making it the perfect place for your holiday. It's wild and remote, with hills, glens, rugged coast, white beaches, sea lochs, clear waters and ancient forests. Many of our properties are in the Cowal Peninsula, known as Argyll's Secret Coast because of its undiscovered charm. You won't find crowds of tourists here. What you will find is wildlife, tranquillity and stunning scenery. With all this on offer, your Argyll holiday will be one to remember.

Argyll is packed with places to visit and things to do. Sailors, walkers, cyclists and artists are all drawn to this area for its natural beauty. You'll find plenty of restaurants and pubs serving up locally sourced food, including Loch Fyne's world-famous seafood. And, of course, there's a great range of holiday accommodation, from contemporary apartments to traditional cottages.

“Lovely cottage but a bit remote.”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

Cottage was everything we could have hoped for.Fulfilled all our needs. The only problem for us was the state of the back garden. It could have been cleared of all the leaves and debris as the slopes in the back garden were dangerous underfoot. Also,as we had 2 small dogs, the fencing was inadequate.Unfortunately, the location of the cottage was a bit too remote for us.Also, something should be done about the access road to the cottage.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for taking the time to comment - we’re happy to know that the cottage met your expectations and appreciate the point about the wet leaves - we have asked our housekeeper to keep an eye on this and brush them away from the steps and path. We do advise guests that final access is on a non-metalled road (as it is bumpier than we would like) but sadly we have no control over this as it is not on our property. Many thanks Morven
