From the owner

Anstey Mills Thatched Cottage is a lovely open plan self-catering cottage for 2 adults and perhaps 2 small children (sleeping on single futons in the galleried bedroom). This is your ideal romantic hideaway, with a large decking area - a real sun trap - from the first-floor bedroom overlooking your own private garden and adjacent fields with sometimes sheep or cattle...just step out into nature!

As East Liscombe is a non-working farm you will find this a secure environment where you can relax without any noise or - at night - light pollution: Exmoor National Park has not long ago acquired International Dark Sky Reserve status as featured on the BBC Stargazing Live TV program. The night skies can be spectacular.

Back to the cottage: despite its old beams and other traditional traits it is a truly up to date and well equipped holiday home with all mod cons.

The small kitchen offers a dishwasher and microwave as well as a fan oven with separate grill and ceramic top.

We have a 30" flat screen Smart TV with DVD and USB, a CD player and WiFi.

The interior is tasteful and the bedding of excellent quality (feather duvets or equivalent if you require). In the downstairs bathroom you find a double seated whirlpool bath - just the thing to pamper yourselves after a nice hike over the moor. Underfloor heating in bathroom and kitchen, and warm towel rails in the bathroom as well as in the upstairs toilet and separate shower.

Whether you just like to sit and relax in the peace and quiet offered by Anstey Mills Cottages or whether you are looking for some activity, be it walking, cycling or riding, you come to the right place. The atmospheric landscapes of the moors offer many surprises. Deer roaming free, as are the Exmoor Ponies, posing in front of spectacular views. Small towns and villages pride themselves on their amenities, inviting pubs and cafes, the Cream Tea being a popular treat.

Owner's reply:
Thank you Julie for your great review. I can see that after your impressive hiking on the Two Moors Way the stairs were just too much! I trust the jacuzzi bath helped though… Enjoy the rest of the walk! Doris

Another week at Anstey.

I have been back to Anstey many times since I was a child (I am now 20) and I have just returned home from another amazing week with my family. Doris who runs the cottages is so lovely, she feels like… More

Owner's reply:
Thank you, Joseph! It was an absolute pleasure seeing you all again. As our first guests after the restrictions, it was great to have familiar faces and your feedback helped to build confidence. The appreciation people show for a remote and peaceful place like ours is evident; however, getting a personal recommendation means a lot! Best wishes, Doris
