"Family holiday to celebrate an 80th birthday"

The Mill House is a beautiful property in a lovely setting, in easy reach of walks on the downs, local shops via a pretty footpath, a short drive to the beach, and set in spacious gardens. The rooms are all a good size and very well furnished. The dishwasher, washing machine and drier are all top of the range Miele and work superbly. There is plenty of china and cutlery, and we appreciated the large set of Denby. Two sitting rooms, one having the tv, plus a dining room, meant that our party of twelve were never crowded. There is plenty of room for parking as many cars/trailers as one could need. We ranged from 4 - 80 in ages and the house was perfect for everyone. The downstairs bedroom with shower was ideal for the disabled member of the family. The toys, games and books were much appreciated by the 4-8 year-olds. This is an exceptional house for a memorable holiday, and all our party would strongly recommend it.

"Beautiful location, property provides all amenities you could possibly want"

I have stayed several times at the Mill House and it never disappoints. Last weekend 8 of us (4 couples) had a fabulous time celebrating our friends 50th. The Mill house is in a stunning location, surrounded by countryside, yet only a few minutes car ride from the various attractions the IOW has to offer in particular the Needles. The property is cleaned and looked after to a very high standard but most importantly it also feels very homely and welcoming. On a previous visit there were a party of 14 of us including adults and children, so the Mill House really does cater for different needs and lengths of stay and is an ideal base to explore the stunning Isle of Wight & somewhere I would not hesitate to recommend. Will be going again soon

"Lovely spacious house"

Had a very nice stay in the Mill house. We all found it relaxing with lots of children. Location of the house was good for travelling around Isle of Wight. I would recommend the rental.

"A fantastic house, great location, with style as well as homely touches"

We were a large group with ages ranging from 9 to early 80's plus a dog. The house had ample parking, comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen, cotton bed linen, fluffy towels and the two sitting rooms worked well allowing the adults and children to have time out from each other. Baked potatoes cooked in the Aga were so good we did the same again the next day. We stayed for 5 days and found more than enough to do. We would love to return one day.

"An absolute gem"

We had a wonderful week at Mill House and everybody in our group thought the house was marvellous. It has a real 'family home' feel to it with large bedrooms and living rooms. Plenty of space all round and ideal for a large group or multi-generation extended family (as ours was). Lots of crockery and cutlery and other kitchen utensils makes living very easy (trouble is remembering wher everything goes!).. A lovely large garden ideal for toddlers (and older children) to play freely and safely. On the quieter side of the island but nowhere takes very long to get to. The coastline nearby is very picturesque and the beaches there are almost empty, away from the main island resorts.Close to a lovely village with good pub, bistro and very well stocked village shop (good fresh fruit/veg and bread etc). All very relaxing. We had wonderful weather all week, which always helps of course! Highly recommended.

"Great holiday in a lovely property"

We stayed at the Mill House as an extended family (myself, my husband, my parents, my brother and sister in law and four kids under the age of 5). It is a lovely, spacious property in quiet location but within walking distance of the local village pub and shop in Brighstone. Positive points: Great welcome pack Lovely bedrooms which were spacious with comfortable beds and quality linen. The view from the bedrooms is delightful and it was particularly good to wake up to see the cows in the field neighbouring the garden. Lots of room for the kids to play both inside and out Plenty of toys and games to keep the children entertained - the 3 year and 2 year old particularly liked the jigsaws. Lots of room to park - great if you are travelling with multiple cars as we were. Negative points: We felt that the cleaning wasn't up to the expected standard in the bathrooms (some areas were a bit grimey so we had to wipe them ourselves), the kitchen cupboard doors which were visibly greasy, especially around the handles and the snug which was quite dusty in places. Not much cupboard space for food as all but one of the cupboards were full of crockery (even with ten of us staying we couldn't get through that much crockery). There is no stool for the piano and no music so it was a bit of a pretty ornament (shame as we would have liked to have used it). A TV in the main sitting room would have been nice as there wasn't room for all 6 of the adults to sit in the Snug to watch television together. I must stress that the negatives above we're only minor irritations and that on the whole, we had a great time. I would go back to the property in future years and would be happy to recommend it to friends.

Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your stay at The Mill House. For the information of future guests, a replacement piano stool is being sourced (unfortunately the original one which matched the piano was broken during a booking). The bespoke Smallbone kitchen is hand painted and at some point this year has been cleaned with a very strong cleaning chemical, possibly containing bleach, which has damaged the paint and varnish finishes. The cupboard fronts are cleaned weekly using warm soapy water but unfortunately do feel a little bit sticky.

"We love this house."

The Mill House can't really be faulted for good taste or facilities. The bedrooms are luxurious, the bathrooms huge and spotless with great white baths and modern showers. It's got all (really, all!) mod cons, elegant furnishings, stone and wood floors and lots of land/garden for sitting and wandering. It's a quick walk down to the seaside and the house is convenient for the rest of the island while being rural and quiet. Brighstone village (a few minutes walk) is notable for its lovely shops (get everything from your newspaper and pint of milk to a huge array of local produce). The house is very handsome indeed, and the owners have, I noted this time, done all necessary work on the very few areas that showed any signs of age in recent years (I've visited The Mill House 4 times in 4 years). The place makes me feel like I've joined the smart set and I've slowly learned how to use an Aga (though there's a posh electric Neff if you can't be bothered). If you have children you can use the giant TV in a separate room on rainy days. Barbecue, do laundry, try to use more than a fraction of the endless stores of lovely crockery and the kitchen kit (you won't be able to), sit about in the big sitting room reading 'Island Life' and feeling like you really ought to buy a yacht once you win the premium bonds.... the place is vast, as well, so you can escape to another part of it any time. They do short breaks. Um ... I really feel I should live there ....

"Lovely comfortable family house"

The house is positioned in a nice friendly village. We were not able to make use of the garden because of the weather but it looked lovely even at this time of the year. The house itself works well and we used every room. The owner left a generous welcome pack which got the weekend off to a great start. The best ever equipped kitchen we have experienced so it made it easy to cater for a large number. We would consider coming back during the summer months when the island is more lively.

"Wonderful house for a large gathering on the Isle of Wight"

We stayed at the Mill House with two other families for a week over New year. The house is very warm and friendly and extremely well equipped. The three main double bedrooms are equally delightful which is such a bonus when holidaying with friends, no drawing short straws! The furnishings, linen, towels etc are all of a very high standard and we all enjoyed a wonderful winter break, long walks, hot baths and real fires to relax by, highly recommended.

"Beautiful family home we go every year."

We first found The Millhouse four years ago and have been every year since. We go with my parents, siblings and their famiies - its a great house for family groups and works really well for us. The house is easy to find and situated in a quiet country lane. It is very well equipped and kept up to a high standard. We have found plenty to do each visit on the island and always look forward to going back. Booking is always very straightforward with email communication between myself and the owners.
