“Impressive Georgian House”

Reviewed 20 Jan 2014

Spacious house with great views paricularly from the warm conservatory. 3 bedrooms comfy, 2 others not so but a couple Kingsize comfy beds would address this and be consistent with the style and size of the property. Fantastic fun cooking with the Arga but kitchen starting to feel a bit dated though a very sociable kitchen diner. I some ways kitchen over equipped and would benefit from some thinning out. Great having bike shed and log store. Plethor of TV's but would have prefered one really good large one. Bathrooms and shower rooms all fine but in particular downstairs one as really well convertrted room. Would certainly go back if could mobilse a big group again.

“A lovely house, perfect for a large family group, superb location.”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

We had a lovely family holiday in this beautiful house. We were able to visit many local attractions including the zoo, farm, aquarium and a ride on a steam train. In the evening the children were very happy to play in the large garden. Helen and Eric were very helpful and friendly and made us feel very much at home. All the bedrooms were large and it was hard to choose which was the nicest. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hi Sheila, Thank you so much for your kind words,it means so much to us when we get feedback from our Holidaymakers. We hope to see you all again in not too distant future. Kindest regards, Eric and Helen

“A holiday to remember”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2013

We stayed with our large family group .We have a holiday together every year and this year it was our first visit to the area. The accommodation was just what we wanted so comfortable, spacious and everything we needed was there to make our holiday enoyable. We made good use of the barbeque and sitting on the terrace enjoying our evening drinks was very special. The Aga was also a boon breakfasts were more appetising when cooked on it.The house had a lovely atmosphere and it was a pleasure to live there even just for the week that we had booked. There were so many places to visit nearby or far away whichever you wanted to do.We will return and we would like to thank Eric and Helen for there hospitality and also for their unobtrusiveness during our stay. Also to the little boy who lived next door Leo and his sister who came to play with the grandchildren .All in all a thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all.Thankyou once again.

Hello Linda, Just read your review and thought would drop you a quick line to say thank you for taking the time to do so.It is always very rewarding to Helen and I to get such good feedback. Hope to welcome you all back soon, Best regards, Eric and Helen

“A spacious and homely house with great views!”

Reviewed 20 Jan 2013

We would highly recommend a stay at Bankfield House. It is a warm, comfortable house that offers superb value for money. The owners, Helen and Eric, are very friendly and welcoming. They spent time making sure we had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The house is extremely spacious, but it retains a very homely feel. It is easy to get some peace and quiet, even with a large group staying together. The kitchen is very well equipped and always really warm thanks to the aga and the conservatory is a great place to relax and get together for meals. All the bedrooms are comfortably furnished and there are lovely views towards the coast. Bankfield House is easily accesible from the M6 and has lots of beautiful places to visit nearby- we visited Cartmel and Hawkshead. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Thanks again to Helen nd Eric.

Thank you so much for your kind words, they are really valued by us and appreciate them very much.Hope to see you all again at Bankfield , Best regards, Eric and Helen

“Christmas at the Lakes District”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2013

Seven of my girlfriends and partners all decided to go up to the Lakes to spend Christmas away from London where we are currently living. We had a disappointing Christmas in London last year and was determined to make our last Christmas away from home a good one and it really was. It was everything we hoped and wanted. There wasnt anything that we did not like or came across that ruined our time. The house is massive with lots of bedrooms and lounge rooms. There was so much space, alot of people had days to do their own thing in their own space and it was very comfortable. It is in a beautiful location looking over land and can see the lake from some of the bedrooms up stairs. All of the size of rooms are quite large and very spacious and the set up of them are all very beautiful. There is a little pub/hotel down the road where we walked to most nights for dinner and drinks which is quite cheap and we loved the people down there who we got along with so well. The people there were very lovely and everyone in general. The locals are very welcome to you and genuine and we all just felt at home there. We spent Christmas Day in the house and cooked up a big feast of turkey, pork and ham and the kitchen was big enough for us all to be in there helping out somewhere. The owners were nice enough to give us a Christmas tree and some other little gifts along the way and the handy thing was that they live just next door. Only a 5 min drive into a small little town where there is a bottle shop, supermarket and a few other little shops. We all had an absolute ball and would definitely recommend this to anyone else and if the opportunity came again to spend it up there we all would. There are small little towns around that you can drive too and see what else is around. Overall, a really good Christmas that I know all of us will remember and compare to our ones back home in Sydney! Lauren

Cheers for your kind remarks we enjoyed having you and are welcome back here anytime

“Beautiful period property with amazing views.”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2013

My husband and I stayed at Bankfield House along with our daughter, my parents in law, sister & brother in law & their children. This was a New Year break to celebrate both our 40th birthdays and i must say we have lots of happy memories during our stay. Helen & Eric made us feel so welcome and at home upon our arrival. The house is spacious and warm with lots of character and plenty of room so that you're not on top of one another. The kitchen is well equipped with a large dining table where we'd have breakfast and the Aga was amazing. There is even a dishwasher which means you can put your feet up after meals. We spent most of our evenings in the large Conservatory which has a wood burner that has amazing views cross Morecambe Bay. Overall, Bankfield House surpassed our expectations. It was lovely, cosy and homely and is definitely a place we would love to stay at again.

Thank you so much for your kind words,it means a lot to us to know how much people have enjoyed staying at Bankfield House and all our efforts have been worth it.We hope you come and stay again Best regards, Helen and Eric

“Fantastic spacious property with character and charm”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2012

Bankfield is an amazing spacious house with plenty of character and charm. The minute we walked in through the door we felt welcome and relaxed! It is ideal for a family holiday or for groups of friends with children as there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out to suit themselves. It has a large kitchen with plenty of storage and cooking appliances to accomodate everyone and there are three bathrooms and two additional toilets. All the bedrooms are spacious and there are plenty of fresh bedding and towels provided. Some of the bedrooms also have sinks. Grange over sands has a co-op and spar for all essential supplies and there is a lovely pub at the bottom of Jack Hill which serves good pub grub and also family friendly. We will definitely be staying at Bankfield again in the future.

Hi Angharad, Thank you so much for your kind words,we are always so pleased when we get feedback like this, come back soon ! Helen and Eric
