“Excellent place also for a young family to have relaxing vacations on Madeira” We had wonderful vacations with our 10 months baby and the villa was best placed to feel like being at home for us.
Firstly, the villa has an excellent location as it can very easily be accessed from the airport (20 mins drive by car), has a nice garden and provides for a very relaxing atmosphere and is at the same time very closely located to the centre of Madeira's capital Funchal (10 mins drive by car, bus connections available). Secondly, the villa provides for three bedroom and a very big combined kitchen / living room (approx 60 sqm) and is so well-equipped that everything is available that you will need if you wish to cook on your own (far beyond our expectations). Thirdly, and most importantly, the onsite manager Joao is a real asset - who very charmingly offers help, assistance and information and you can easily get in touch with him 24/7. Supermarkets, gas station, bus stop, bakery and an excellent take away place are in short distance (10 mins by walk). Joao also took us along to a very nice Levada tour which was suitable to take along our 10months baby. Great place - our warmest recommendation for the villa. The only aspect that was not ideal was the fact that (owed to the March season) the villa was a bit chilly in the mornings (17 degrees) which could be remedied with engaging the three radiators available in the big kitchen/living room.

“Lovely relaxing holiday” Lovely clean apartment in a quiet location with easy walking distance to bars, restaurants, beach and supermarket. We tried the restaurants that were recommended by the owners, all very good. We would also recommend the Bistro Bar 28 which was on the main road to the Board Walk ( just after the spar ) The roof terrace was a plus with the sun all day long. Victor met us at the apartment and was very good at showing us around and giving us plenty of information. Will definitely be back next year.

“Great apartment, fab location” Just back from a 10 day stay at Casa d'Alvor, June 2017. The apartment was just great, clean and tidy and spacious enough to be very comfortable. Had all the facilities you could need plus a few little extras. Balcony was just perfect for breakfast and late afternoon drinks. Lovely pool with plenty of space. Cheryl saw us into the apartment and was very helpful. The location is perfect - less than ten minutes walk to the old town through quaint streets and all it's bars, shops and restaurants, plus just a 15/20 minute stroll to the fab beaches. Also so easy to catch the bus to Portimao and Lagos.
Will certainly use again when we next visit Portugal.
After 8 years of booking our own holidays this was definitely up there as one of the nicest places we have stayed at.

“Brilliant Trip. Relaxing for me and great surf for my boyfiend!” Myself and my partner stayed for one week at the villa. When we arrived it was a nice touch to see some food in the fridge and a nice bottle of wine, The villa was great very clean, we particually enjoyed the games room downstairs and the patio outside for bbqs and sunsets. The beach close by baleal is a must see very relaxing serving nice bar snacks and the surf was great for my boyfriend to go in everyday. we had a great week and particually enjoyed our visit to the near by world heritage sight obidios!!
“Beautiful little house with stunning views of the Atlantic” We have just come back from a 10 day stay at The Stables and what a joy it was. The accommodation was far superior than we were expecting and is fantastic value for money.
Just a 10 minute drive from Calheta beach the property is up a very steep hill. It is situated on Joseph and Maria’s lovely small holding with stunning views from the terrace of the Atlantic and their vineyard.
The accommodation would easily suit two couples during the summer, although in the winter you may be a little cosy in the lounge area. We only really used one of the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom, the rest of the time was spent on the terrace enjoying the peaceful scenery with a bottle of good Portuguese wine, which you must take advantage of! Joseph and Maria were lovely hosts and as the other views state, they willingly supplied us with fresh vegetables and we would have come home with some of the bananas from their plantation if we could have sneaked through customs with them! The kitchen would do with a few more pans and utensils but what was there was sufficient, however Maria and Joseph did kindly fetch us a barbeque when we asked for one. So although we had good intentions to go out and eat on an evening we actually spent most nights with the BBQ out cooking up lots of fresh fish and meat which can be purchased from the supermarket by Calheta beach, a cheap and delicious meal which would have cost you a whole more in a restaurant.
Overall Madeira is a lovely place to visit and we would definitely recommend staying at The Stables.
