“Vineyards, hiking, sailing and relaxation” We initially booked the holiday, hoping to do some sailing. Unfortunately the weather wasn´t great, so instead we did a lot of hiking in the surounding hills and vineyards. The views are spectacular and the hiking trails well marked. We didn´t rent a car, as the property is easily reached by a lovely train journey along the Douro. Jose and Gustavo were very helpful and friendly and put themselves out to help us,drive us around, show us places of interest and take us shopping. Jose also took us out on a day boat trip and to a lovely local restaurant for a typical local lunch. The location of the chalets is magical - so peaceful and quiet and relaxing, and the little pool is great when the weather is hot. However, without a car, you are very restricted, as there is only one restaurant within walking distance and no shops. September was a great time to visit as it is grape harvest time, so it was very interesting to go around all the wineries, see (and take part in if you want) the grape trampling, and of course sample lots of port.

“Ideal location for sight-seeing or relaxing” Accommodations are new and functional. Location makes an excellent base to explore. Having a kitchen to cook and small stores nearby is a convenience. It was also great to be able to wash clothes so as not to have to pack extra clothes and pack dirty laundry to take home. There are also restaurants and swimming beaches nearby. The ocean itself is walking-distance from the house. You can also watch the sunset each night from inside the property. Helder and Ruben are very helpful and I felt truly welcomed.
