“A lovely base for a lovely holiday” Villa Firdaus is a lovely property, set in pretty gardens overlooking Funchal. It is spacious, and extremely well fitted out. The kitchen is huge, with plenty of working space for several people to be operating at the same time. Our adult daughter holidayed with us, and we could soon put a substantial meal together. There is a supermarket quite close by, and plenty of shopping opportunities in Funchal, particularly the market, which is a must. There are, of course, plenty of excellent eating places in and around Funchal if cooking is not a holiday must. The property manager lives in the basement area (completely detached) and is a wonderful source of information and suggestions for absolutely anything to do with/in Madeira, and especially for restaurants. We stayed in Villa Firdaus for the Christmas/New Year holiday. Compared to Britain the weather was extremely good - though it started a bit on the cold side, with some rain, it gradually got better and better, until we were having lovely sunny, and very warm days. Our one disappointment was that the property was rather cold in the evenings - but as a compensation most mornings found us having breakfast on the terrace. Christmas morning - smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and champagne - just like home - but sitting in sunshine!

Viewpoint House - Casa Do Miradouro
The views are EVEN BETTER than the pictures

We spent ten glorious days at the appropriately named "Viewpoint House" in July. Viewpoint House is perched on the cliff overlooking the Calheta beaches with 180+ degree views over the ocean. It is completely private. An inviting plunge pool, shared with the two other properties, is a few steps away and has a sun deck which we didn't need to use because we had our own private deck. The accommodation is comfortable and unpretentious. The bedroom and ensuite are upstairs and the kitchen, semi-enclosed eating/relaxing area and LARGE private deck, BBQ and second bathroom are on the lower level. The adjacent garden is full of lush fruit trees - we were too early in the season to fully benefit from them. The kitchen has an induction hob and microwave but no oven. There is a separate communal laundry. Nelson was a very welcoming host and provided us with some good local tips. The walk down to the beach takes about 20 minutes. A €5 taxi fare was far preferred to the strenuous walk up the steep hill. Remember: Madeira is very steep. Getting around: We hired a car from the airport for the whole time and parked it at the top of the cliff. It seemed very safe even though unattended. On reflection, when we return, instead of hiring a car we would rely on taxis which are inexpensive - we estimate that the cost would be less or similar and require only minimal forward planning. The Pingo Doce supermarket down near the beach is well stocked with everything. We wholeheartedly recommend Viewpoint House and hope to return soon. Madeira departure tip: If returning to the UK, the airport queues are long. Make sure that you have input all your Covid documents correctly before going to the airport and have the various apps open to switch between them. We had no trouble, but many others did. This caused delays with reprocessing passengers. Arrive at least an hour earlier than you normally would. … see more

Superb, very spacious, clean and very well appointed apartment.

The apartment is on the top floor and has a large wrap around balcony giving great views north east and west. In addition there are conservatories on both sides. The bathroom is large and the main bedroom has masses of storage space. The living room / kitchen is a joy with table and easy chairs and panoramic views to the east and the kitchen itself wants for nothing. Contact with Connie from first booking and during the stay was brilliant. Staying in this apartment is more like being invited to someone's home than my previous experiences of some apartments as it is so well appointed. We love Reis Magos and have been coming to the area for years but this is the first stay in the apartment. Reis Magos is not as busy as Funchal which suits us but it has everything that you need. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and there are supermarkets on both sides of the block and a bakery for fresh bread and pasteis da nata ( custard tarts) in the morning. A very local bus stop will take you to Funchal (15 mins for the express and about 45 for the local buses at a cost of around 2.20 euros per adult) . We tend to hire a car and there was plenty of parking on each side of the building and there is easy access to the expressway for travel to all parts of the island. Stunning Villa

The Villa itself is just as stunning as the views that come with it! It’s very clean and well looked after. As said before the views from the property terraces are stunning. The Villa is also in a great location and provides great convenience. Lastly, the hospitality provided by Joao the property manager is amazing. He provided us with lots of information to help us get the most out of our stay in Madeira, he also provided us with a welcome package that included wine and other local delicacies; he also gave us a freshly baked cake! Communication with Nuno was first class from booking to arrival and during our holiday. Welcome food and drink pack was a lovely gesture and most welcome after our journey. My husband and myself have just spent an amazing 10 days in the Rose Apartment at Quinta Esperanza. The apartment is so beautiful the outside seating area lovely and a plunge pool to ourselves too! The views from the top terrace down to the harbour are stunning. Helena and Roberto go out of their way to help wether it’s booking trips an amazing restaurant for husbands birthday even had a suprise gift left. The walk into Funchal takes about 15 mins to the harbour with beautiful views on the way but bus stops outside the Quinta if you don’t want to walk. Please try the local bakery too as the fresh bread and cakes are yummy! Our first trip to Madeira and definitely not our last both to the island and to this beautiful Quinta as we still have lots of this island to see. … see more

We visited a couple of days ago and had the most amazing time, the host met us there and showed us round, the house is amazing, has everything you need, the pool is a great size and the view is amazing! My children, 5 & 10 loved it! There is a supermarket a walk away but if you want a bigger shop it’s half hour walk and a cab back as it’s all up hill (very steep) a couple of lovely restaurants at the marina and a couple of bars that serve for a walk away. We spend one day in Funchal and arranged a cab (which was about €70) We couldn’t have asked for a better week, will defo go back :-) … see more
