“Just what was needed” We loved the overall location of this property. Cagne Sur Mer was close enough to the action of Nice and Antibes that we could easily enjoy it, but as a smaller community, was out of the tourist action generally. The apartment was perfect for a family with small children, with a large bed in the bedroom, and pull outs in the living room. Every night we were able to enjoy wine on the balcony while our little one slept soundly, and there was no need for sneaking around or avoiding area of the apartment. The pool allowed for an easy cool-down from the warm weather, which was good, because the beach, although close, was a little further than we expected.
Amenities were easy to find with a daily market and supermarket close by and a playground for children of all ages. The train station was accessible, although we found that the bus service of the coast was very cheap and good, so we didn't use the trains much. A handy tip is that there is a bus service from the Airport in Nice, which passes RIGHT by the apartment, it was substantially cheaper than a taxi! We recommend that this be used by travelers.
We would definitely stay here again. The price was right for a great holiday!
“Perfect place to stay in Chamonix!” We were lucky enough to spend New Year at Le Refuge and be one of the first guests in the newly refurbished apartment. The owners have done a fab job. Everything you could want from ski accommodation - comfy beds, hot and powerful shower, stacks of space to store wet gear and a great, sociable dining area to while away the evenings. There were six of us which worked perfectly.
Right in the centre of Chamonix so a quick walk to all shops, bars and restaurants (recommend Evolution for partying and MBC for amazing burgers) and a parking place inside if you have a car to drive to the slopes.
Thoroughly recommend Le Refuge.
“Nice, newly refurbished and clean apartment in a great location!” First of all, communication and booking the apartment with Patrick was very easy and he always responded quickly. Before the trip he gave us all the information we needed about the apartment and how to get there from the airport etc. He was there to welcome us, showed around the apartment and gave advice and tips for example about restaurants.
The location of the apartment is great! It is easy to access from the airport by bus and within walking distance from the old town, beach, the harbor, railway station etc. Also the tram stop is very close to it and you can rent city bikes nearby. There are great restaurants right next to it/nearby, Carrefour and Monoprix for groceries are very close too and the Cours Saleya Flower Market is a great place to get some fresh vegetables, fruits, bread and many things more in the mornings.
The apartment itself is very nice. It’s clean and newly refurbished with a great modern kitchen, that has everything you might need for cooking on holidays. To be able to use the washing machine for the laundry is a great advantage also. There are air conditioners and flat screen TVs in the kitchen and the main room, which worked perfectly. The apartment was very quiet and there were no noise coming from the streets as the windows point to the inner court. The only downside is that you have to take quite a few steps to access the apartment, because there is no elevator (in case that is a deal breaker for you).
We really felt like home during this holiday and would definitely recommend this apartment for couples, small families or group of 3-4 ppl. Very good value for the money!
“Easy and Convenient” I visited the apartment with two girlfriends on a ski mini break. The view and location is beautiful and it was so convenient to hop on and off buses to the slopes. Perfect to come back to after a hard day skiing!
“A well equipped, comfortable base near a beautiful fishing village.” This apartment is part of a new development on the edge of the pretty little seaside town of Collioure. At first we were slightly disappointed not to be closer to the beach and Centre Ville. But it's not far to walk - 10 or 15 minutes at most - and there are no parking problems, unlike in the village. (Worth pointing out that walking back up the hill to the apartment might be a problem for anyone in poor health.)
You don't need a car to enjoy staying here, but in our opinion you would miss out if you didn't have one. The corniche road between Collioure and the Spanish border is well worth the drive - as long as you're not in a hurry. It's twisty, hilly and very spectacular. Continue over the border to Figueres and you can take in the suitably bizarre Dali museum. In the other direction, the charming old Catalan town of Céret is well worth a visit, with a modern art museum containing works by Picasso, Matisse, Miro and others.
We have stayed in many different parts of France over the years and this area is a favourite of ours. Le Petit Azur could hardly be bettered as a base for exploring the cultural, scenic and gastronomic delights of Catalonia. Or you can just swim, relax with a plateful of crustacés or anchois and a glass of the excellent local Collioure rosé, and enjoy the sunshine.
“spacious well appointed chalet” Ground floor apartment in modern but traditional style chalet near the Leisure Centre with easy access to ski-bus. Good communication with owners and no problems with accessing keys etc on arrival. Clean, very well appointed and spacious for family of 8 with 6 teenagers/young adults. Only one toilet, although separate from bathroom and ensuite shower room. Bunk room snug and a bit hot at times. Good selection of games, DVDs and books, although DVD player wasn't working during our stay- I understand has since been replaced. Kids also enjoyed the sledges on the first night after fresh dump of snow. Pleasant ten minute walk to centre of Les Carroz and bakery in the morning. We chose to drive to cable car, but buses every 15-20mins. Parking outside the apartment could be a bit of a challenge! The Grand Massif ski area has a wide range of runs for skiers of all abilities in beautiful surroundings. We have been to this resort several times and always really enjoyed it. Easy access from A40 and only 50-60min drive from Geneva. We will be back and would definitely stay at Chalet Les Trappeurs again
