La Clef des Champs
Fully equipped, stunning location and 5 star hospitality
With a 2 year-old and our first family holiday away we searched for a self catering cottage that would accommodate our daughter first and foremost. Valerie and Albans Gite was fully equipped for a young child right down to books an toys and even a stroller! Stair gates on every staircase meant the safety for our daughter was paramount which made this place as stress free as it could have been (with a 2 year-old it's never going to be as relaxing as you hope!). Even the outdoor play area was perfect for little ones to have the best stay! And she loved the nosey chickens.
Valerie also brought us over some fresh eggs from the chickens mid-week which was lovely. She was very helpful with recommending places to visit and even though the language was abit of a barrier, google translate was helpful and Valerie always had a smile on her face. Oh and the homemade jam, chocolates and bottle of cider was a welcome gift after a long day travelling! It certainly gave me a taste of the amazing Normandy ciders and I couldn't stop searching all week for more.
With regards to the location, the Gite is only just over an hour drive from the Cherbourg ferry on very easy quiet roads and set in the most beautiful location overlooking the valley but also close to a local village for a butchers, minimart and patisserie. Also it is around an hour drive (give or take) to visit most things that you would want to see from DDay beaches and the stunning St Mont Michel. So location was perfect with the views to boot.
I have already recommended Valerie and Albans Gite to friends and family and we most certainly will be back in the future.
Thank you so much for having us Valerie and Alban x …
Peaceful detached cottage, countryside views
If you love france, this is for you
Back here in Mantilly Cottage. This time there was a fishing competition with a barbeque with all the locals joiniing in. In the evening a big feast in a marquee arranged by the local little restaurant. Always something going on here but still retains its peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Visited the coast south of Granville with good walking and great restaurants for lunch. Cottage perfectly equipped in great location. Would highly recommend for spending time in this area of Normandy. …
Cottage sea Beautiful Space FECAMP - Port and Beach
Comfortable, spacious, well-equipped apartment in a fantastic location. Beach, restaurants and main sights all easily within walking distance (The impressive Benedictine Palace is a minute away on foot). Even though very central the apartment is very quiet and we were always able to park directly outside or just around the corner. Christine was there to welcome us and advise us on the best places to eat and give us tips on some local haunts not to miss. Would definitely recommend. …
Beautiful peaceful location - lovely gite.
This beautiful gite is in Courcy a tiny hamlet a few minutes from St Pierre du dives. It is about halfway between Caen and the historic Normandy coast and Falaise the birthplace of William the Conquerer. I stayed over Easter with my husband, adult daughter and my two grandsons ages 9 and 7. I loved the peaceful setting of this gite, very little traffic passes through the village the gite itself and grounds are enclosed so I never worried about the children’s security. The boys loved the animals and the pool. It is covered so that it can be used in the colder and wet weather the boys would go in straight after breakfast, then as soon as we returned from day out they would be back in the pool and after their evening meal back they would go again. The gite is well laid out and beautifully furnished. There is a hot tub too but we didn’t use it. It was a great base to tour the area, we particularly recommend the 360 degree cinema at Arramanches des Bain (gold beach) for the history of the DDay landings. St Laurent sur mer (Omaha beach) is a beautiful beach for children to play on. Point du hoc a must see with the two boys for a full sense of the historic landings. Visit to the castle of William the conquerer is good too and the town of Falaise itself is worth a visit. The best thing about the gite was the wonderful warm welcome from the owners Martine and Michael and welcome gifts of homemade jam and a basket of fresh laid eggs. Thank you . …

The Perfect Escape
Idyllic location and perfect house and garden for a peaceful, relaxing escape. Nestled right up to the dunes and a short walk to an expansive sandy, empty beach, I found this holiday house to be everything I had hoped for. I would definitely return, again and again. We received a lovely warm welcome by the owner and enjoyed a relaxing week surrounded by beautiful nature and stunning scenery. The owners' recommendations for local restaurants and attractions didn't disappoint and we enjoyed exploring the coastline and beyond. Stunning area and friendly local people. Pet-friendly too - I don't know who enjoyed the garden more: us or the dog! Would definitely recommend a visit. …
