“Perfect place to stay and explore” Walter's cottage was a perfect place to stay and explore an area so often overlooked. Ideal for Leicester, Derby, Southwell and various NT houses plus local walks and loads of good pubs, including the Plough in Wysall. The cottage was very comfortable with everything we needed and Debbi made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Really comfy bed, light and airy throughout and kitchen area with all mod-cons. Lovely to have real coffee provided as well as tea, sugar and milk. Thank you for a great holiday!
“Super friendly owner's, lovely rural setting in the Sherwood county. many many thanks.” A smashing quaint little village location. perfect homely feel, I settled in immediately.
Kitchen a little small although I prepared and cooked my meals with just the same
ease as I do at home.
Special thanks to Sarah & Paul for being so accommodating of my two wheeled
friends(my road bikes). One a dry weather super light and the other a wet
The area has some fantistic views of the Nottinghamshire countryside. Cyclists both on and off road will love this place. Birdwatchers and naturalist as well.
It just leaves me with one more comment to make. Please do not plan your weekend when I intend to stay. If you do you will have a enemy for life.
Smashing place, accommodating host's and a beautiful location for nature lovers.

“Excellent” Beautiful house. gorgeous village, amazing country. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Everything was provided, the cottage itself was more than we could have ever expected and the owners were more than helpful without ever being intrusive. We can honestly say that, throughout our entire European trip, this was the most relaxing and enjoyable time that we had. We would recommend this cottage (and the owners) to anyone who wishes to experience the real England
“Lovely log cabin in a secluded forest location” Lovely log cabin in a secluded forest location ideal for walking and a relaxing romantic break. Hot tub and the log burning stove are fantastic. The cabin is really well equipped and very private. We will definitely be going back.
“Great venue for a hen weekend!” We had a great stay here for my sister's hen weekend! There are two cottages that have a door adjoining them which was great! All the rooms were very beautiful and the beds were really comfortable.
The only thing is that it was about a 30-40 minute drive to the centre of Nottingham, and c. £30+ for a taxi back to the station! Hopefully most people will have cars though (and Wayne gave us car parking permits for us to use).
Thanks for a wonderful stay, would definitely recommend!

“Cosy welcoming house full of character & history” We loved the house and the facilities, the rooms were spacious and cosy, with big family kitchen. The bath was amazing and big enough for two, the history and books were really interesting. Well equipped with everything for day to day needs, the only thing possibly in need of improvement was the garden which could have been level and tidied up a bit. The beds were comfy, maybe more towels could have been provided.

Grooms cottage self contained1 bedroom annexe .
Excellent facilities and host
The holiday let was booked for my parents. Julie, the host goes above and beyond - checking on my parents ensuring they were ok; supplying food extras like free range eggs from her chickens, ham, cheese, yoghurts etc. Lovely setting to get away from the rat-race whilst being near to the main commuter roads.Highly recommended. …
Green Man Cottage - cosy 'Home from Home'
A wonderfully relaxing home from home.
This cottage is so delightful to spend time in. It is beautifully decorated and the space is used so cleverly (to make several little areas to relax indoors or out). The host leaves lovely little welcoming touches to make guests feel special - flowers, breakfast hamper, logs for the log burner etc etc.
You can just 'hole up' here and relax, read, watch TV... or the fabulous log burner.
Or you can take a trip to Nottingham for city amenities, Grantham - for a wander around or country walks, stunning historic houses (including Belvoir Castle on Sundays). The visitor book shows many, many repeat bookings. A sure sign that this cottage is superb. I also think it is excellent value for such a beautiful place! Very highly recommended. …

White Horse Cottage

Little John's Petite Cosy Cabin
Ideal hideaway retreat
We have stayed in similar ‘cabins’ elsewhere and this petite cabin was just as good. It’s certainly cosy but with just about everything provided that we could need we enjoyed a lovely 3 day break here. The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels all high quality. The cabin was spotlessly clean and the little shower room absolutely fine. The shower was hot and powerful which makes all the difference.
We walked along the road to eat in a local pub and had a great evening. There’s also a very good Indian within half a mile or so and local shops providing all we needed.
Debbie, our host, kept in touch via text but there was nothing we needed to ask her for. …
