“A perfect escape from it all” I came to Hillend Guest Suite mainly because it was a very reasonable price and was within easy drive of Edinburgh. When I got there I realised it was so much more than that. Whenever it was dry my dog and I headed into the hills and had several wonderful long walks (including ones along the southern upland way), all within close walking distance. Then when the heaven opened with the many storms that happened this week, we snuggled into our beautiful wee cottage. It was absolutely perfect. Everything I needed was there; but the wonderful owners, Ruth and Martin, made it very clear that if I needed anything I need only call. It was beautifully clean, and always warm. Settled on the sofa in the conservatory with my sleeping dog at my feet I could look out at the driving sleet and feel totally content. After what has been a very difficult year finishing a masters degree alongside serious family illness, this was exactly the break I needed. Thank you Ruth and Martin for being so warm and welcoming, while giving me the space I needed. And my dog absolutely loved his holiday, particularly playing with Martin and Ruth's dog Ellie!
