One of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. The studio flat had everything we needed and the owners were easily contactable when we needed assistance. We would definitely recommend to any couples. …
Amazing Little Gem of a Cottage
Well what can I say Letterbox Cottage is amazing! The location is basically five mins from the village centre, so your in walking distance of the local pubs and the Cheviot Hotel which does have a restaurant. Its dog friendly aswell and the locals make you feel so welcome. The local supermarket is fully stocked so if you run out of food you can nip down and get what you need, its open from morning till evening.
We did have a scone and coffee at the Train Carriages which serves excellent food, its a really good experience.
The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard and the layout is perfect, its really big but looks small from outside, kitchen is fully equipped and the shower room and bathroom have great showers with hot water. Lovely little garden at the back which has seating and a little table we had afternoon coffee outside in the sun.
We visited Kielder Forest and walked about six miles and had lunch there well worth the walk its a lovely area. We also drove to Seahouses and Alnmouth which is an hour and half away as our friends hand not been to that area before. We had a fantastic weekend and the little touches on arrival for the dogs and us and a bottle of wine was brilliant. Lorna is really good at communication and gave us all the details and very quick to respond. Would highly recommend it and definetly will be going back. …
Excellent facilities and standard of accommodation in an ideal geographical location for a combined rural, urban and coastal break. Glorious Northumbrian countryside, delights of Newcastle, and North Tyneside coastal resorts all accessible. Some nice dog walks from the cottage and a monument (Burradon Tower House: ideal for spooky late night stories!) right on your doorstep. …
Castlehill View, Bellingham
Ideal base for exploring Northumberland
We used the cottage as our base for 4 days' walking on St Oswald's Way (Heavenfield to Warkworth). A good place to return to each evening when you're tired and cold: hot shower, well equipped kitchen and warm rooms. Ideal! …
