“Lovely apartment in the historic market town of Alnwick.” This apartment is beautifully furnished and well equipped with all domestic appliances including a washing machine and drier. It is within walking distance of many pubs and restaurant and is an ideal base for touring the beautiful unspoilt Northumberland coast. The only minor problem was road noise.
“Perfect home from home” The impressive front door opens onto a Tardis of a cottage - the downstairs is wonderfully spacious, and the upstairs layout is perfect for larger families such as ours. It was immaculate on arrival with a lovely welcome pack - it was brilliant not to have to whizz out and get milk for a cup of tea - even though the cottage is in such a central location, it wouldn't have been too much of a hardship! The cottage is superbly appointed - every time we thought "I wonder if there is a....." - there was. Perfect! We had fabulous weather so didn't really have too much time to make use of the extensive DVD collection - but had it been wetter, there was plenty of entertainment in the house - with films, books and games for the children.
Yvonne was brilliantly helpful in the lead up to the holiday, with advice on places to go, things to do, where to walk the dog, where to eat etc and when we were there, very quick to help with a problem we had with the heating. It is the first time we have taken our dog on holiday with us, and we loved being able to have her with us and discover all of the beautiful beaches and local walks.
I really hope that we will be back - thank you for providing such a 'home from home'!
“Location and facilities of cottage are perfect” Embleton is in very good location to be able to access other areas in Northumberland. The village is well provided with places to eat, golf course and beach easily accessible.
Stable cottage is well equipped, has a fabulous garden and is very peaceful. The hotel provides good food and staff made us very welcome. Would definitely stay here again!!
“Highly recommended” This cottage is a gem of a find in the lovely village of Embleton. It was absolutely spotless & was a great size for our family of four including two toddlers. The pub across the road was not only convenient but served delicious and plate filling food for the whole family. The staff were very accommodating in allowing us to pre-order food from their menu for our little ones so it was ready to be served to them immediately upon our arrival at 6 pm. I was even allowed to take my unfinished glass of wine back to the cottage to enjoy after our little ones were put to bed - a bonus ! The cottage is located within a short walking distance of a swing park but also Embleton Bay which is one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in England. We were also a short drive from key attractions such as Alnwick Castle , Bamburgh, Seahouses and the village of Craster for the coastal walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. We would definitely like to return !
“Another excellent experience at the Rose Cottages” We've been regular visitors to Northumberland for over 10 years staying in Embleton which is an excellent base from which to visit the many places of interest in the county and walk the wonderful coastline with our dogs.
This is the second time we've rented one of the Rose Cottages. They are perfect if you want a little independence away from the main hotel but still with full access to the hotel facilities. The cottage feels like 'home from home',
It has all the equipment you need to cook if you want to, but my Wife is also on holiday from cooking so we use the hotel restaurant!
The Dunstanburgh restaurant is excellent and the quality of food and service seems to get better each year we come!
We will be back again next year to enjoy another peaceful few days in Northumberland.
“Terrific venue for a walking holiday with friends” Five old friends getting together once a year to catch up, do some walking and relax over a few drinks means that we need a flexible and quality venue. The quarterdeck was just this and is set in a beautiful village right by the sea and at the start of a great coastal walk. Alnmouth has several great pubs (one of which does fab pizzas), and the cottage was perfect for spending a few hours into the morning playing cards, listening to music (via the provided iPod dock) while chatting and having a few drinks.
“Great Place for a group Break” This was the first time we have stayed in Northumberland and I cannot believe we found such a wonderful location at first attempt. The "Police House" is an ideal venue for a group to stay whether by self catering or using the catering facilities of Dunstonburgh Castle Hotel who own the property.
All rooms were spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and fitted out. TVs in all bedrooms and a kitchen area with everything we could need. The location is ideal for exploring the Northumberland coastline. The beach (dog-friendly) is an easy walk. Craster is easily reachable if you fancy their wonderful Kippers.
We will be retuening with other family members in the near future.
“Delightful, well appointed cottage for two” Lovely detached cottage, newly appointed and has under floor heating. Very close to village shop and a choice of three pubs/restaurants. all within walking distance. 1/2 mile walk down to the beach and beautiful walks along coast in either direction. Would definitely stay again.
