“Enjoyed a fantastic week in a beautiful cottage in very peaceful quiet surroundings.” Fantastic accommodation. Very quiet and peaceful. Great base for touring and shopping. Was sad to leave. Hope to return next year.
“Excellent cottage near to fantastic pub - great place to visit” We stayed here in November 2012 as it is located within a short walking distance of the Black Horse Pub, where we had our wedding.
The cottage has a very pleasant outlook with good amenities and a well appointed kitchen.
The bed was comfy and we had a great time. Enough said.
Near to Beamish Museum (which needs more than one day to do properly). Next to the 'Consett & Sunderland Railway Path' which we used for our walk into Stanley for coffee at 'The Green Pelican' and 'South Causey Inn' and two excellent meals at 'The Blue Bell'.
Shutters is a well presented and meticulously maintained home that has everything you could possible want. We relaxed in the cosy lounge, read in the sunny conservatory and soaked up some sunshine in the lovely garden.
Already looking forward to our next visit. …

Arrived in rain and snow. Lovely welcome from Amanda , nice welcome package awaiting us + very tasty cake . We booked this cottage because it was near Beamish , and we weren’t disappointed. Stables by the side of us lovely view across fields , sooo peaceful . Wood burner , which was most welcome when it snowed hard on our 3rd day . So Cosy . Nicely furnished, everything you’d need for your stay . Not far from Durham , half an hour I think , lovely city even in the pouring rain ( we went prepared) . Sunderland a little further, don’t miss the glass college-museum. . …
