“Brilliant Weekend Break” We enjoyed our weekend holiday £rd -6th Mayat Lindores very much. The house was perfect for all the family including our two dogs. The house was filled with all the crockery etc and facilities we required. My grandchildren thought the play park and beach fantastic. My son, son in law and myself had a pleasant game of golf despite the strong wind. Alnwick and the castle were an easy drive away and we spent a very enjoyable afternoon on Saturday with the children learning how to fly a broomstick, (quidditch as in Harry Potter. Sunday was a trip to Holy Island and the Lindisfarne Castle. It was a fantastic weekend and even the North East weather behaved, although very windy and rather chilly (anoraks and jumpers needed) we had no rain the entire time.

You must visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens during your stay. It’s a spectacular historic site where you can learn about the Northumberland dynasty and the history of the area.
You’ll probably recognise the castle as soon as you arrive – it’s a popular filming location! Star Trek and Blackadder have both filmed there, and it was the main site for Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Harry Potter fans will recognise it as the place Madam Hooch holds flying lessons in the first film. It’s simply magical!
