The Camel Trail is only 2 1/2 miles from Polglynn Cottage. At Helland Bridge you not only find one of the entrances to the Camel Trail but also Paul Jackson the famous potter has his studio which you might like to visit and on the opposite side of the historic Helland Bridge a small herb nursery can be found which is open to the public certain times. Plenty of parking is available. You can either go towards Blisland and the moors or go towards Wadebridge and carrying on towards Padstow following the river as it meanders through wooded valleys and marshland. Hides on the way, provide the bird watcher with the opportunity to watch the various species, which frequent the area. Places to eat and drink are found in both directions, and there is also the opportunity to indulge in wine tasting at the Camel Valley Vineyard. Bicycles can be hired from Wadebridge, Bodmin & Padstow.

"definitely worth a return visit."
From the moment we arrived at Polglynn Cottage, we felt at home. The sincere welcome from our hosts including scones, clotted cream and jam, the cosy feel of the cottage with its luxurious appointments and the stunning view over the farmlands was the best.
Books to read, games to play, even binoculars to help keep track of the resident fox, the playful rabbits and of course the pheasants. It was all there and more. A delightful base from which to explore Cornwall and come"home" to each night".
Thank you Bill and Marian.

"Perfect property with amazing veiw"
Our stay at Polglynn Cottage was lovely. It is definitely the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in and there is nothing we ever needed that they didn't have. The views are outstanding and the property itself was welcoming, homely and very well kept. Bill & Marian are really friendly and we had a very warm welcome which started our stay off perfectly.

"A little piece of heaven for people and dogs!"
We found this cottage about 5 years ago after staying in various places around the UK that take dogs. Since than we have never been anywhere else! It is so peaceful and idealic, yet close to amenities and lovely local beaches. The cottage is always immaculate and has all the home from home comforts you could want. Bill and Marian have always been very friendly and welcoming and Marian's welcome cake is FAB! The views surrounding the cottage are beautiful and you feel relaxed straight away, we can't recommend it highly enough!

We have spent two unforgettable holidays at idyllic Polglynn Cottage, near St. Mabyn, which is ideally situated for touring all of Cornwall and South Devon. The paramount objective of the owners - Marion and Bill - is the enjoyment and comfort of their guests in this pristine, beautifully presented and maintained holiday cottage, and they certainly succeed in this.
For a family with young children and a pet, the large separate playroom must be a definite bonus, as is the enclosed yard. For elderly tourists like ourselves, the convenience of en-suite bathrooms, on-site parking and no steep staircase to negotiate was a definite plus. Relaxing on the patio with a glass of something cold after a hard day's touring was wonderful - or alternatively enjoying the convenience of central heating, a cosy fire, and sampling the contents of a well stocked bookcase when the nights became chilly.
We particularly loved the large picture windows that looked out on the wild and mysterious Bodmin Moor towards Rough Tor and Brown Willy, or the panoramic views across the rolling farmlands of the beautiful Allen Valley, where horses, cattle and sheep often strolled up to the fence to peer at us strangers. A wonderful home from home, that will always say "Welcome back!".

"The perfect retreat!"
If you want peace, tranquillity and a slice of paradise in the countryside, then Polglynn is what you are searching for. It has every possible amenity one could wish for...and more. Surrounded by fabulous countryside, with glorious views, and a nearby village shop( two miles) that appears to sell everything, plus wonderfully accommodating neighbours/owners in Bill and Marian. Should you ever want to be "far from the madding crowd" then this is the place!

My husband and I stayed here for a week and I didn't want to go home at the end of it! The location is so peaceful and you have a lovely outlook over the surrounding countryside. It was lovely to come back after a day sightseeing and relax on the patio with a glass of something cool! Perfect! The cottage is amazing and has everything you could possibly need for your stay. Everything provided is top quality. The power showers were fabulous! Short drive into Wadebridge where you have a choice of eating places. The owners were very helpful and always on hand if required. I definitely hope to have a return visit to this beautiful part of the world. Loved it.

"Beautiful peaceful cottage"
Exceptionally well cared for cottage , very modern interior with home from home comforts, the cottage owners live next door in another detached cottage, very friendly couple nothing is too much trouble as they are very proud of their amazing cottage . The cottage is tucked down the end of a quiet country lane & is immaculately kept. Well behaved dogs are made very welcome , beautiful scenery panoramic views from cottage over valley nothing to spoil view for miles apart from sheep & cows often in field opposite . Lovely large enclosed garden for children or dogs to play safely . Daymar Bay , Rock & Padstow just a short car journey away to some beautiful beaches. Wonderful cycling area , bikes available to hire in Wadebridge , The Camel trail is a safe wonderful place to cycle for children & families .
