Manor House / 10 bedrooms / sleeps 22
For more than 20 years the combination of the Great House and Exmoor has been the perfect house and perfect location for your house party.
The Great House is the ideal country house rental getaway, a people friendly house (children and adults), located in the beautiful South West on the Somerset/Devon borders and in the Exmoor National Park.
The Great House itself is a large, comfortable, cheerful and atmospheric house with loads of character and in a wonderful location on the edge of the village which makes it the perfect place to party with friends and family. The Great House is only 150 yards from the village centre with its church , post office and PUB!!
Ten Bedrooms , Seven Bathrooms, farmhouse kitchen, large lounge with open fireplace and woodburner, second lounge with baby grand, dinning room seats 22, Games room with table tennis, pool room, bar, outdoor chess; there is also plenty of car parking at the front of the house, walled child safe garden with ample space to relax and soak up (literally) that great British weather. There is also a large patio at the front of the house where you can quietly sit and sip champagne (sorry not supplied) and watch the sun go down over the village.
Conversly, if you feeling energetic you can always take a stroll around the seven acres of woods.
So whether it's an old fashioned beach holiday coupled with a bit of surfing, or an activity filled holiday with lots of new pursuits or just a relaxing holiday with time to take in the exceptional countryside and a few hostelries, the combination of Exmoor and the Great House will do it for you.

The Somerset region
Timberscombe is within the Exmoor National Park in an area of outstanding natural beauty and in easy reach of the sort of places dreams are made of. Just down the road is the historic medieval village of Dunster, with its castle (NT) gift and coffee shops.
While on the coast we can start at Watchet, with its new marina and steam railway. This runs from Bishops Lydeard, near Taunton, to Minehead, where Exmoor first meets the sea. Minehead with its amusements arcades and Butlins is in complete contrast to Exmoor, but just walk from the high street onto North Hill and you are in a different world (no wonder so many people retire down here). If you want to have a day off from your children, Butlins, on the seafront at Minehead, is a must, providing entertainment and amusements all day long. Day tickets are excellent value.
Further along the coast is the town of Porlock with its infamous hill, and then over the moor on one of the most scenic routes anywhere is Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for its floods, but now recovered and picturesque. Next we have the Valley of the Rocks and Heddon's Mouth, with a compulsory stop at the “Hunter's Inn”. Suitably refreshed, Ilfracombe and the surfing beaches of Woolacombe are next, just over an hour's easy drive from Timberscombe.
Then it's back over the moor to Simonsbath and the pretty Exmoor village of Exford with a top up at the White Horse and then on to Timberscombe.
