Beach Sun Retreat
About the home
As featured in the Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2011/nov/25/quirky-sunshine-beach-retreat-kent, Beach Sun Retreat uniquely offers the ‘perfect beach and summer holiday’ with guaranteed sunbathing 365 days a year! Occupying the ground floor of this former hotel, the property has been refurbished to an exceptional standard to provide a stylish, one off and spacious holiday retreat, nestled in a quiet location at the end of a private road, with a large lawned garden and direct access to the sandy beach.
The retreat is one of the first in the country, alongside The Wholistic Medical Centre in Harley Street and Grange St Pauls 5* Hotel, to have installed ‘Real Sunlight’s’ innovative health-giving sun simulators (www.realsunlight.co.uk). The sun room is part of the St Tropez-style large living area and provides a multisensory tropical haven where guests can top up their tan and feel fabulous since it is beneficial against a whole host of health conditions such as SAD, stress, arthritis, skin problems, sleeping disorders, Vitamin D deficiency and so on.
Whether it is enjoying playing celebrity chef with the six-hob range cooker, spinning the high end vinyl decks as a superstar DJ, or relaxing in front of a great movie in the authentic cinema room featuring velvet cinema seats and popcorn machine, guests will have a great time in this house!
For an excellent night’s sleep, fully unwind in the boutique-style individually-designed en-suite bedrooms featuring king size high quality beds, hand carved marble fireplaces and sumptuous linen and towels.
For those that can bear to leave the house, it is an ideal base to enjoy Kent’s many attractions. Sandy beaches, rolling countryside, picturesque villages, historic Canterbury, port of Dover and the Channel Tunnel are all within easy reach. The upper floors are unoccupied so visitors will have sole occupancy of the house and garden. Shop and pub within 500 yards.

From Dover’s white cliffs to the historic and magnificent Canterbury cathedral to the new £18m Turner Gallery in Margate, there’s so much to see and do in the garden of England. You can shop on cobbled streets in Rye perched on a hill with a medieval church, beautifully preserved historic houses and a range of fine dining, experience safari adventures at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, taste wines and ciders at Biddenden Vineyards, family fun at the Hop Farm family park, admire brightly-colored orchards and beautiful countryside driving through Kent’s many little picture card villages, as well as visit impressive Bodiam and Leeds Castle for something a little more grand.
There are more stately homes, castles and gardens in Kent and the surrounding area than in any other part of the UK. And if that isn’t enough, you can always pop over to France for lunch, which is only an hour away door to door with the Eurotunnel terminal only 7 miles away!
The neighboring historic Cinque Port town of Hythe has a lovely high street with plenty of antique and small shops, restaurants as well as an antiques market at the Malt House . For antiques, good quality shopping, fine restaurants and a relaxing day out head to the historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells. Folkestone’s Creative Quarter is a hive of arty activity with galleries galore. Strollers will enjoy the mile-long Folkstone Leas promenade that overlooks the ocean, perhaps ending with dinner at the Grand Hotel . For something a little different, Dungeness Nature Reserve is a fascinating place with fishermen’s huts and the largest expanse of shingle in Europe - a haven for wildlife spotters. The local RHDR Railway is a 15" gauge main-line in miniature, built in 1927 with operating steam and diesel hauled trains - you can even drive it yourself!
For rainy days and retail therapy, Ashford has a large outlet centre next to the International train station featuring shops like Ralph Lauren, Musto, Ted Baker, Henri Lloyd, Lacoste, Clarks, Benetton and Tommy Hilfiger .
There are several golf courses nearby such as Littlestone Warren (British open qualify rounds), Lydd , Hythe Imperial or Sene Valley
The Dymchurch area
Dymchurch is a small village situated on the coast in between Hythe and New Romney. It has a fantastic beach, a childrens fairground, some shops, pubs and restaurants.

My family of five including three daughters of 18, 15 & 13 had a very enjoyable stay at the Beach Sun Retreat over the May Bank Holiday weekend (second one for 3 nights). We all loved the Beach area... more |

Me and my girlfriends came here from East London for a weekend away and had a total blast! The decks and the sound system is amazing and the main beack area is a hoot! The kitchen is really well equipped for a party of six and is a perfect setting for big meals, great chats and a spot of dancing! Moreover you're right by the real sea too and although it's not the MOST pituresque of towns, Dimchurch has access to a cute model railways and lots of nearby pubs. My advice is get the food delivered and spend all weekend just lounging about and eating and drinking too much as well as reap the soothing rewards of the indoor beach! |
