“Amazing little hidden gem and pet friendly” Lovely bungalow on a nice quiet caravan site. The location is perfect for the beach, a good 10-20 minute walk and that’s at the pace of our 5 year old daughter. The bungalow is really modern, clean, spacious inside. Perfect parking for 2 cars. Pet and child friendly especially with the enclosed decking on the back. One thing we did find lovely, no matter who you passed on site, people always said “good morning/afternoon” everyone on the site was really friendly and welcoming.

“Cosy cottage, felt completely at home, everything perfect!” Stayed at this cottage when working in the area. The owners have thought of everything, a welcome pack on arrival, chocolates in the bedroom and bottles of wine (at a very reasonable price) in case you want a tipple. Its a really warm cottage, which is useful in Wadsworth as its up on the hills and it can get very cold, a great place to come back to after a long walk. Although the owners live in the cottage behind this one they weren't intrusive a all, they give you the information you need and then let you get on with it. It felt very peaceful and relaxed and will come back another time just for a break, Would highly recommend.

“Unique riverside holiday experience” An amazing building which was presented extremely well on arrival blending fascinating character with modern facilities in a convenient position only a few yards from the city centre. We especially like the superb roof terrace with glazed surround which provides panoramic views across the River Ouse and round to the Minsterl. It is a long climb up to the roof but we took every opportunity to take breakfast lunch and dinner up to the deck dining table and enjoyed stunning sunset views. For anyone not wishing to take the stairs to the roof, this property also uas a lovely garden in the middle of York! Lendal Tower is in the heart of York and therefore you cannot expect a quiet experience but being part of the city for a short time was our aim and hearing the bustle and nightlife around us was our expectation. The Tower itself is full of character and provides luxurious accommodation with a feeling of tremendous space and history. Above all it was great to walk around York whenever we wished yet within a few minutes be able to open the door back into a secure and sumptuous world of our own. One of the greatest assets is the use of a garage on the opposite side of the footpath to the entrance to the tower. Parking is quite expensive in York but the car went straight in the garage on arrival and didn't come out until we left - a huge bonus. For anyone wanting a special holiday in the bustling centre of this well known city we would highly recommend a stay.

“Excellent holiday cottage.” Really amazing holiday cottage, the owners seemed to have thought of everything to make you as comfortable as they could. There was a wonderful welcome basket with wine, coffee, tea, and all sorts of goodies. The cottage was modern, well equipped and comfortable. The garden went down to the river with a beautiful summer house to relax in. Can't recommend this more highly..

“Beautiful house and surroundings offering fantastic value for money” We thoroughly enjoyed our week at South Wing, which is a very spacious, comfortable and warm house with its own grounds and views. Wi-Fi and Sky were both provided - very necessary when you have young teenagers with devices! We appreciated the two lounges and well stocked kitchen with very large fridge & freezer. Only a 5 minute walk to the village and a 5 minute drive to great beaches. Also, most importantly, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the high quality bed linen much appreciated. Thank You!

“Relaxed & Chilled.” The Best thing I can say about our hosts Louise & Steve was that we never saw them apart from collecting and returning the keys. Let me explain more on this - we were met by our friendly and amicable hosts who explained how the hot tub worked, showed us inside the summer house where the bbq was and things such as where beach & nearby pubs were. We were advised if we needed anything at all and just ask, as I started didn't need to as EVERYTHING was perfect. We came for 3 stress free night's and that is exactly what we got, and was heavenly. The hot tub was cleaned daily and used up to 3 times a day by us and was great and even our autistic son adored it which was a real bonus. What Louise & Steve have created is a little haven with tremendous attention to detail, from the lights on the external trees to the little fairy tree house. The garden was large and ideal for my dog but so was the beach a gentle 10 mins stroll down the road. I highly recommend this stay as long as you want to chill & relax, if you are used to being constantly on the go this is a must to wind down. I had a chat with Louise on departure and told her to expect another visit from us - it was heavenly, and highly recommend.

“Amazing location, great for day trips to York and surrounding areas.” A great find, local bus into YORK just a 5 min walk away, would be a little difficult for anyone with mobility problems,as steps to apartment are quite steep. We arrived on a cold December day,but were soon warm and cosy due to the very efficient heating. Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay, and hope to return in again in the spring.Oh buy the way, thanks for the lovely cake and fresh eggs(amazing)

“Fantastic getaway” We hired Waterside House for a long weekend as a venue for our wedding reception and it was absolutely amazing. The property itself was stunning and very well presented. James was extremely helpful and when we needed to ask him anything or request a favour (for example when some of our wedding arrangements went wrong!) he was friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to hire this property again...we are just working how soon we can go back!

“Lovely flat, great location” We really enjoyed the flat- very clean and came equipt with pretty much everything you'd need in the kitchen utensil wise, plus the owner had taken the time to get us some essentials - milk, bread and eggs. There was a washing machine and a dishwasher, which was nice to have alternatives for clothes washing if we needed them and to have the handy dishwasher speeded things up in the mornings and evenings for sure. Both soaps and dishwasher tablets provided as well. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable (nice and soft), bedding really nice quality. She also provided us with towels- a large one and smaller one each (there wasn't any hand towels in the bathrooms so I think that's what the small towels were for) Two bathrooms, clean and frrsh, one with bath, meant getting both of us ready in the morning was a lot quicker- i want a spare at home now :-) only downside was not having enough toilet roll- we are left about 1 and a half in total- for two people for four days? Not really enough, but I bought some at a local shop so not a major issue, just would have been nice.well The living room was very large and well furbished. The owner had left a few board games and books which was nice. Something I don't believe the owner mentioned was sky and WiFi. Both were installed, but we didn't bring laptop since we didn't think there was WiFi. I do believe it should be a selling point as it made things a lot easier to have WiFi available. Having the sky was also a great surprise- we don't have TV at home (life choice) and it was nice to have it as an option and watch a couple films. We brought our cat, the owner took the time to respond with messages about keeping cats in the flat, prompt and helpful. There was a cat flap there but we locked it just to be safe, ours can't go outside. She basically hid for the first couple days but she enjoyed running round in the large living room. Heating easy to use, TV and WiFi easy to use. Nice small patio area outside- bedroom and living room both had French doors leading into it. A small downside was we couldn't open the windows in the kitchen, even with the extractor fan on, when I made pancakes there was just a bit to much smoke/steam, I couldn't get the windows to open. It could just have been me, but they looked painted shut almost? I don't know, but we couldn't open French doors to let air through because of the cat... So mostly just didn't work for us. Local shops just a short walk away, centre of York about 20 minutes walk and for any big supermarkets it was about 10 minutes drive. All in all we were really happy with our stay. The owner was helpful and open with communications, and the flat was clean, spacious and came pretty much fully equipt. I think the owner should list the WiFi and sky as advantages to the flat also, as they were a great surprise to have. We would totally recommended this flat to anyone, and the area also.

“Singularly enchanting” Gina's healthy home is like nowhere else I have ever stayed. Not only in a wonderful location and beautifully laid out, but also packed with interesting features and curios. It was an education for our group of ten not particularly spiritually inclined or harmonious 30 year chaps. We found it difficult to decide which of the many lovely sitting rooms to hang out in next. Soothed by the overall effect of the place after three days, everyone was very reluctant to head back to their city jobs and boring houses and flats.

“Rose cottage” Rose cottage was really comfortable and clean and a good double shower and a comfy king size bed. Outside there was a patio area with amazing views. The property itself is up a steep single track road with a parking bay opposite the cottage. To walk into Ilkley takes about 40 minutes but be aware the on the way back the last 800mtrs is uphill. There are some lovely walks along the river which are flat . There is a big park area where the children can play and a very welcoming pub The Riverside Hotel. To finish, overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage the only thing that disappointed was there was no welcome tray, so make sure you bring milk, warer etc. Also the website needs updating because it states there is a bottle of wine provided but there was not one, but that was of no consequence to us

“Fantastic” Had a fantastic mini break here at Owl Barn Cottage. Margaret and Barry were very accommodating and ensured that we had settled in okay. The cottage is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing get away. The hot tub and wood burner are both a perfect added extra to the lovely accommodation and make your mini break that extra special. York is approx 8 miles away, cost £20 in a taxi however if you drive there is a park and ride a few miles down the road and the bus is £5 straight in York centre. Cannot compliment this place enough. We will be returning in the future and would definitely recommend Owl Barn to anyone who wants to get away for a mini break and a visit into York.
